Many Boxers end up in rescues because their owners had done no, or very little research into the breed and just don’t realise the amount of energy and attention boxers need.

Many have been used for breeding and have received no or very little human contact, some have been neglected, have health problems or even beaten to the point where they no longer trust humans, as long as these rescue Boxers are not aggressive, they can be worked with given time and placed in the right home they can become the typical happy, bouncy Boxer that they should be. Some rescue dogs will settle into a family home almost immediately, others will take a lot of time and patience while you work hard to gain their trust.

Every boxer in rescue should have been assessed to determine the type of home the dog will need. Some may not be used to being around young children; others may not be dog/cat friendly etc.

It's important to choose a boxer that will match your particular lifestyle.

Before deciding a boxer is for you, please ask yourself the following:-

user posted image Have you done enough research into the breed?
user posted image Can you give a boxer a good home?
user posted image Can you afford to feed him/her correctly?
user posted image Can you afford Vets fees or Insurance?
user posted image Are you prepared to Exercise every day and train him/her?
user posted image Can you give plenty of affection and attention (boxers thrive on human companionship).
user posted image Are you prepared to work through any problems he/she may have?
user posted image Do you have the patience to allow a dog to settle into your home - your new rescue dog may have accidents or need toilet training.
user posted image Will your house accommodate a Boxer and allow space of his own - including a secure garden?
user posted image Are you prepared to take care of your boxer for up to 12 years or more, no matter what happens?

If you can HONESTLY answer yes to all of these questions then go ahead apply to adopt and change the life for one rescue Boxer.
