NORTHERN PARSON RUSSELL TERRIER CLUB

Championship Show, October 11th 2009

Thank you very much for the invitation to judge your first Championship Show. It was a very great honour, and one I had much pleasure in accepting. There was a lovely atmosphere, and the Committee had pulled out all the stops to ensure that everyone had a memorable day. It was especially nice to meet up with old friends, particularly Vera Simpson and Club President Anne Murray.

There were some lovely terriers present, and I was spoilt for choice when it came to awarding the CCs I would have been happy to give out several more. Whilst judging is about weighing up many facets of the dog including construction, movement, condition and breed type I believe that at a club show it is most important to reward dogs that have excellent breed type, and occasionally that influenced my decisions, nowhere more so than when it came to BIS. The Dog CC winner, Ch Giftrapped of Lovealoch to Pacolito, is a lovely dog, sound, presented and handled to perfection, and a great showman, but for me he is a little on the solid side and a fraction too short in back. His overall qualities cant be ignored which is why he won the CC - but for BIS I preferred the bitch, Heythrop Tia, who is a reluctant show dog, but excels in breed type. BP, Res Bitch CC and RBIS went to Digaden Glamoruss who had everything I was looking for in a Parson she naturally lacks maturity, so the best is still to come. Res DCC was another young one, and another with great promise for the future, Glenholm Happy Go Lucky. I liked him immensely and when his novice handler gets a little more experience he will be a very hard one to beat. On this entry the breed is in good shape: only one slightly suspect bite, and most had lovely big teeth, and only one slightly soft coat. It was especially nice to see some really good smooth coats. Temperaments as always were delightful.

MPD (7): 1 Garsayno Yum Yum headed a very nice class to start the day, which included a couple of smooths with lovely coats. This one is of nice size and type, lovely movement for age, excellent coat. A promising puppy. 2 Glendream Harry Potter among Windwalker lovely outline, excellent shoulder, good head, excellent tailset and topline. Up to size, but mature so maybe has finished growing. 3 Digaden Windrush Ace Lovely head, not quite so good in shoulder at present, good hind angulation, just not as collected on the move as 1 and 2.

PD (2): Two nice puppies with different plus points at present. 1 Mindlen Capercaillie  Scored in coat, topline and tail set. Beautifully handled. 2 Digaden Adventuruss better angulation and movement, but a little deeper in the chest.

JD (6): 1 Glenholm Happy Go Lucky Just lovely. Balanced easy mover, lovely type, excellent head, ears, good coat and thick pelt, correct length of back. RCC 2 Windynook Init to Winit Another with lovely balance and excellent movement for age. Good head, excellent coat and correct for size. BPD 3 Alncroft Arctik Another of nice size, in excellent full coat, excellent topline and tail set, lovely tight feet.

PGD (2): Little separated these two 1 Mindlen Munro Good size, just spannable, excellent rought coat, good topline and tailset. 2 Horncall Ice Slightly deeper in chest, well off for bone, not quite so free moving and little light in eye.

LD (3): Two quality dogs 1 Hoolmark Ready to Rock Top end for height but easily spannable, lovely head, bit short of coat but what was there was of good texture, good angulation, well handled. 2 Olliebark Star Performer Lovely size, excellent coat texture, excellent angulation, slightly deeper in chest and a fraction brad in front.

OD (3): 1 Ch Giftrapped of Lovealoch to Pacolito Excellent head, coat, lovely angulation, smart movement, presented and handled to perfection. DCC 2 Rymshott Strider Another quality exhibit,  bit deeper in chest, lovely head, excellent angulation, easy movement.

VD (3): Three really lovely oldies all a credit to their owners. 1 Ch Holdobur One to Mark at Hoolmark An old favourite of mine and still in good enough nick at ten years old to be in contention for the CC. 2 Ch/Am Ch Mindlen Muddler Minnow JW Another ten year old, and again in grand form. Beauifully handled by a young lady who was younger than he was. 3 Alne Master Piece of Ilexquercus ShCM Just a baby at 7, lovely coat, another with excellent free movement, just a bit deeper in chest than the others.

MPB (5): 1 Lola Springs Pacolito Smart pup, well handled and schooled, excellent coat, nice outline, good topline and tailset. 2 Garsayno Cookie Dough Lovely pup, excellent size and shape, lovely angulation, good topline and tail set, just needs more confidence in the ring.

PB (6): A lovely class, quality right down the line. 1 Digaden Glamoruss Super puppy of classic type, excellent head, coat, correct topline and tail set, easy balanced movement. RCC, RBIS & BP 2 Pacolito Phlattery Another nice one from this kennel who brought a large team, all beautifully conditioned and schooled it was a pleasure to judge them. Balanced bitch of good type, excellent coat, excellent angulation, just a little untidy in movement at present, but she is a baby. 3  Pacolito Maid a Phortune at Springbeck Nice type, lovely head, good angulation, slightly lower tail set, but close up to 1 and 2

JB (3): 1 Windynook Rhythm is a Dancer Alone, but well worthy of first place. Excellent size, head, good coat, excellent angulation, a little erratic in movement at present.

PGB (5): Another strong class 1 Heythrop Tandy Epitomises the breed description – workmanlike, good size, lovely head, excellent coat, excellent topline and tailset, could just move out with a little more freedom. 2 Pacolito Picture Super type and balance, good head, coat, moved well, just a little light in eye.  3 ImageIlexquercus Rosy Rusty Very close up, another of lovely type, moved well, just could be slightly tighter in pastern.

LB (7): 1 Middlemoss The Only One Very smart mover, lovely angulation, excellent broken coat, correct topline and tail set. Still a little immature, but another that I liked a lot. 2 Ardencote Tamanu Another really nice one, perhaps just a bit doggy for a bitch, but excellent in all departments, with particularly good movement. 3 Heythrop Tiadrop Lovely size, good head, excellent topline and tail set, good coat, didnt move as well as 1 or 2.

OB (8) Spoilt for choice here, hairsplitting choices to be made. 1 Heythrop Tia So balanced, elegant but workmanlike, lovely head, beautiful reach of neck into excellent shoulder, excellent size, coat, tailset. Not the most enthusiastic showgirl, and occasionally lets her topline sag. Can move well, but doesnt always see why she should bother. Despite this, her quality cant be denied CC & BIS 2 Ch Garsayno Tuti Fruiti lovely shape, excellent angulation, excellent coat, good movement, well off for bone. 3 Ch Pacolito Phirstclass JW Another excellent one, good head, excellent angulation, lovely presentation and fit as a flea, just a little strong all through.

VB (3) 1 Starlight Express at Olliebark In super condition for her nine years. Lovely head, still with an excellent bite and big strong teeth, lovely size, moved well. Seriously considered for CC.

Brace (3): 1.Doyles well matched pair of lovely type 2 White & Baileys equally well matched, a close decision.

George Simpson Special Beginners Stakes (3): 1 Ilexquercus Rosy Rustic 2 Garsayno the Dancer

It is with great relief that I post the details of a huge rescue sucess performed by Suzanne Pattijn and Jane Hadley in Toulouse in the south of France last saturday the 6th of December.

It came to Jane's notice on a French Russell forum that two parson russells belonging to Les Price and Lynne Rock and Hazel and Steve Tagg had been taken to a dog refuge in Toulouse by the police for protection.  Their carer Stephy Algoed seemed fit to also leave a Whipet there her beloved  ' Betsi' who she had proclaimed in a post on the same forum as having died and gone to paradise. The whippet is very much alive and has been adopted by the directrice of the SPA.

Jane and Suzanne then begun the chore of collecting signed papers from the aforsaid owners and sending all proof of their ownership to the SPA.
All the papers were in order not long after crufts this year, but the refuge was actually scared to give the dogs back to their owners.
When a new president was instated he listened in depth to the story and Suzanne had to send yet another file with everything in it.
Finaly they agreed to let us come and take the dogs but for a price.

They are now safe with us here and we await the decision of their respective owners as what to do next. The dogs stayed ina kennel of 1sq meter for over 300+ days and are now enjoying liberty to the ful, theirs will be a very Happy Chrsitmas.

NORTHERN PARSON RUSSELL TERRIER CLUB OPEN SHOW

SUNDAY 6TH OCTOBER 2008

BRAFFERTON VILLAGE HALL,  NR DARLINGTON

I would like to thank the NPRT Club for asking me to judge this Open Show it is an honor to be given such an opportunity.  Thanks too for the warm hospitality extended to me; also many thanks to the sporting exhibitors for their support.  The atmosphere at this show is always relaxed and cheerful which is due in the most part to the effort put in behind the scenes by the hardworking organisers and Committee   A really enjoyable day.

Although the entry was not large I had some very good dogs to assess. Temperaments were excellent and on the whole coats were good although I appreciate that it is a difficult time of year. There were some dogs who were not well muscled and it does affect movement and outline.   I do feel that attention should be given to feet as there were quite a few with flat round feet not suitable to carry a dog over rough terrain all day.

Veteran Dog/Bitch 4 (1)

1 Hooleys Ch Holdobur One to Mark at Hoolmark Tan/White rough coated male 9 years old,  a fit dog  who moved well for his handler and was easy to span.  Good bite, reach of neck and angulation.  BV

2 Lightfoots  Holdobur Spring Fever  Tan/White bitch 8 years.  Tight broken coat, good bite,  well presented  in fine fettle for her years.  Didnt seem to be really enjoying herself today.

3. Kanangaras Lenacourt Lunar Eclipse

Minor Puppy Dog 1

1 Kannangaras  Sherosco Lucky Lad Tan/White 8 months broken coated youngster,  spannable, good bite but difficult to assess outline and movement as he was playing up his very patient owner.  Needs time to mature

Puppy Dog 1

1 Bakers Giftwrapped of Lovealoch to Pacolito Very promising tri coloured dog,  10 months old, pleasing outline and angulation,  dark eye,  well pigmented, good harsh coat,  narrow front, good reach of neck,  excellent tail carriage, showed well for his handler.  RBD RBIS & BP

Junior Dog 0

Post Grad Dog 1

1 Warnes Im on Fire 19 month old tan/white harsh broken coat, strong head with challenging expression, easy to span, needs to body up.  Handler was having a job to get the best out of him was certainly on fire today.

Limit Dog 3 (1)

1 Johnsons Garsayno Astronomer 3 yr old tri dog easy to span, good bite, expression, and angulation, good feet, pleasing reach of neck and balanced outline.  A fit dog who looks capable of doing the job he was bred for and who fits the standard well.

2 Doyles Alne Master Piece of Ilexquercus 6 yr old with dense double coat, well marked tri coloured head with dark eye.  Well angulated with super reach of neck, just carrying a bit of weight over the shoulder which affects his front action but nevertheless a very pleasing flowing outline, neat feet.

Open Dog 4 (2)

1 Philp handling for Llinas Ch Sp/Port/Gib Ch Muhlross Melrosian Tan/White.  What can I add about this dog who is so expertly presented by his breeder/handler - his record says it all.   BD & BIS

2 Swifts Pacolito Funky Monkey 3 year old tri who was a bit short of coat today and most unlucky to be matched against the winner of this class.  Nonetheless a good type of dog with many pleasing attributes.

Minor Puppy Bitch 0

Puppy Bitch 1

1 Doyles Ilexquercus Rosy Rustic 10 months old very promising feminine bitch who I hope will do well in the future for her sporting owner.  Pretty head with intelligent keen expression, dense double coat, thick pelt, good balance, angulation, and tail set, narrow and spannable. RBPIS

Junior Bitch 3 (1)

1 Bakers Pacolito Phirstclass   Seems to be living up to her name.  Well marked tri head with keen expression.  Harsh coat, fit, spannable bitch 16 months old.  Good for type and balance.  I like this youngster who I think gained her JW today RBB

2 Swifts Pacolito Phavorite Appeared to be a little unsure of her surroundings nevertheless a neat feminine bitch with a good coat, nice head and front, moved out well.  Easy to span.

Post Grad Bitch 6 (1)

Some very nice bitches in this class

1 Doyles Mindlen Moth of Ilexquercus A pretty bitch in good double coat, lovely expression, easy spanned, good for size, pleasing front and reach of neck, flowing outline, good angulation.  Moved well

2 Hooleys Mindlen Blue Bottle at Hoolmark Tan/white feminine bitch, easy to span, neat head.  Similar type to 1 could easily change places.

3 Marshalls Kirkby Sunrise

Open Bitch 7 (3)

Another class of quality bitches

1 Johnsons Ch Garsayno Tutti Fruti  A neat tri bitch with  good jacket,  feminine head with dark eye,  well angulated giving  plenty of drive on the move.  Have admired this bitch since she was a pup.  BB & BOS

2 Bakers Pacolito Pathfinder Another very typey bitch with good dense harsh coat, moved out freely.  Easy to span. Again could change places with 1 on another day.

Judges Report

It was a great pleasure, and an honor to judge the NPRT Club Show. Although the number of dogs entered was a bit low, the quality was very high, and I wouldnt mind to bring back home some of the dogs judged.

From all the dogs I judged, only one I had seen and touched before, although Ive never judged it, Ive competed against him, beating him some times, and being beaten other times. It is indeed a nice specimen of the breed, which Ive planned to use at stud some day.

All of the dogs were spannable, which is, as everyone knows, a very important trait on the breed. Also all of them had excellent temperament, and even if some were not used to being shown, there were absolutely no problems with touching them, spanning and checking teeth.

Veteran Class dogs

1st Sacco, Roberts and Murrays, Am. Ch. & Ch. Mindlen Muddlen Minnow JW, excellent head and expression, good ears, body of good proportions, good tail set, moves ok, good coat, in very good shape for his 8.5 years old.

2nd Hooleys, Holdobur One To Mark at Hoolmark, good head with good skull, ears of good size, set and shape, but I would like in a better ear position, good body with good proportions, could move better behind, in good shape for his 8 years old.

 Junior and Post Graduate dog

1st White & Baileys, Horncall Ice, very good head and expression, good ears, eyes are a bit light and I would like the eyelids pigmented, good neck, good body with good proportions and angulations, moves well, good tail set.

 Limit dog

1st, Best Dog, BOS and RBIS Roberts and Todds, Mindlen Rabbit, true breed type, super quality head with excellent expression, excellent ears, very good neck and shoulders, body of good proportions with good angulations, moves well but in the movement the top line should be more straight, although when in stay it is ok.

 Open dog

1st and Reserve Best Dog Llinas, Port., Sp. & Gibr. Ch. Muhlross Melrosian, also a true breed representative, with very good type, excellent head and expression, good eyes and ears, very good neck and shoulders, good top line, good angulations, moves well.

 Minor Puppy bitches

1st, Reserve Best Puppy Philips, Saona Sunshine over Muhlross, very good type, feminine head, good eyes and ears, good neck, body of good proportions, top line is ok, needs a bit more ring training.

2nd Hooleys, Rymshott Muddy Marvel US at Hoolmark, excellent head and expression, still missing P3 and P4 on both sides of lower jaw, good neck, body of good proportions, good angulations, coat with good texture but with a little bit of ticking, moves well.

3rd Roberts & Murrays, Mindlen Tammy Troot Naf Taf, typical feminine head, good body for the age, moves ok.

Res. McKinghts, Mindlen Rainbow Trout Naf Taf, feminine head but Id like a better shape of skull, a bit too much stop at the moment, a bit long in loin, moves ok.

Puppy bitch

1st., Best Puppy, Reserve Best Bitch Coppings, Horncall Wizz A Dora by Rutaaro, typical feminine head, good eyes and ears, good neck, good top line, good angulations, tail with good set, but tends to curve over the top line, moves very well.

 Junior bitches

1st, Best Puppy, Reserve Best Bitch Coppings, Horncall Wizz A Dora by Rutaaro, report above.

2nd Hooleys, Mindlen Blue Bottle at Hoolmark, excellent type, good head and expression but Id like a stronger muzzle in order to do the proper work, very good body proportions, I would like a better hind angulations, moves well.

3rd Steels, Garsanyo The Dancer, typical head, left ear not always well positioned today, missing P4 on both sides, chest still spannable but near limit, good angulations, moves well, good temperament.

 Post Graduate bitches
1st Coppings, Cragrats Secret Star Rutaaro, excellent type, very good feminine head with very good expression, good ears, good neck, body of good proportions, good top line, good angulations, moves ok but Id like her to cover more ground.

2nd Hooleys, Rymshott Wizzard Brew at Hoolmark, typical head, good eyes and ears, good neck, body a bit long in loin, good top line, good tail set, good angulations, could move better.

3rd White & Baileys, Rutaaro White Witch, typical head, eyes should be darker, very good ears, good neck, good top line, tail set is a bit low, moves well.

Res Whites, Little Lady Lovage, excelent head, short upper arm, a bit long in body, moves ok.

 Limit bitches
1st Smiths, Bethane Hulabaloo, typical head, good eyes and ears, missing both P4 on lower jaw, top line is ok but tends to roach in movement, body of good proportions, good angulations, moves well.

3rd Johnsons, Garsanyo Tutti Frutty, lovely head and expression, good neck, a little bit long in loin, very good angulations, very good top line, moves well.

Res Coppings, Badgergrove Rose E-Lee, typical head, pincer bite, body of good proportions, top line could be better when moving

CRUFTS 2008

Parson Russell Terriers

Many thanks to the exhibitors who gave me a lovely entry to go over.
Quality & type was rather mixed & some classes were strong & some very weak.
In some classes very nice dogs went cardless which is a shame but that is the nature of the game we love.
In other classes it was hard to find quality dogs to fill the first three places.
There were several dogs who I thought would occupy higher places but on close inspection I found dentition problems of all kinds. This problem must be addressed by breeders at some point.
All in all I was very pleased with my eventual line up of winners.
VD (3) 1 Sacco, Roberts & Murrays Ch/Am Ch Mindlen Muddler Minnow, 8 years, excellent head & expression, dark eye, balanced dog of very good type, well constructed, sound mover, excellent condition for his age, still has great presence in the ring; 2 Hooleys Holdobur One To Mark at Hoolmark, good head & expression, in great shape for his 7 years, very good type & in good condition, presented well & still knows how to show off his best assets; 3 Kavanaghs Gonetoground Capt Hook, making up a trio of nice dogs who have given so much to their owners in the past. In very good condition & coat. He looked as if he was enjoying his day out at Crufts. PD (5,1a) 1 Lumbards Alncroft Hemlock of Morgandare, t/w dog of very good type, well constructed with a natural balance, particularly liked his head, eye & expression, moved well with a strong drive off good hocks, a hard dog to overlook; 2 Roberts & Todds Mindlen Rabbit, very nice dog in excellent coat & condition, very typical head with dark well shaped eye, another very typy dog with correct construction making a pleasing outline in static & kinetic modes. Very close between the first two; 3 Chapmans Foxwarren Teddy Boy, good type with typical head & expression, very narrow, can be spanned very easily by anyone, has the correct construction for a Parson & moved very well. JD (8,1) 1 Chapmans Foxwarren Boy Otto, tri smooth dog of excellent type, well angulated, in very good condition & coat, moved out extremely well & was balanced on the stand & on the move, well presented by the handler who was able to display his assets to the maximum; 2 Hadley & Sollis Cleevehill Fullmonty, a lot to like about this dog, of good type, has an excellent coat, good rear angulation. Front movement & construction is not his fortune & his tail is a little untidy which spoils the overall picture; 3 Suzans Pride For Ever, good type & a pleasing head, eye & expression, in excellent condition & coat. Would like to see a little more angulation in the front & in the rear & a little more animation on the move. YD (6) 1 Dockxs Finley of Loveloch, tri, has the look of a typical Parson, good head, eye & expression, harsh coat & narrow chest, well angulated, nice outline with good topline & tailset, very good mover which was enough to take the class; 2 Chapman & Fergusons Foxwarren Swimbridge, tri, very good type with pleasing head, well placed ears & correct expression, well put together being well angulated with a good narrow chest, correct topline & tailset, very positive on the move; 3 Richards Pacolito Walteezer, pleasing type of fair construction, good head & expression. A lot to like about this dog but not the balance & positive movement of the winners. PGD (8) 1 George & Gills Pacolito Spunky Monkey, t/w smooth dog of excellent type, probably one of the best smooth dogs I have seen, has excellent angulation, narrow chest & very nice outline, very typy head & correct expression, well set ears & the correct shaped eye. He was probably the best mover on the day balanced & true. CC, could have been handled better but that should not take away the quality of this dog; 2 Fooy-Van Roosbroecks Enrique of Lovealoch, tri, very good type, excellent head, dark eye, well set ears & correct expression, in great coat & condition, well angulated, nice topline & tailset making a pleasing outline, very good mover, well presented; 3 Chapmans Foxwarren Trouble, not so good in head as the two above. Good type otherwise & has a harsh coat & a workmanlike attitude, no problem in spanning him, good outline which is sometimes spoiled by a soft topline. Moved OK. LD (9,1) 1 Taggs Rymshott Strider, very pleasing type with good head, eye & ear placement, well constructed with good angulation, spannable, has strong pasterns & feet, in excellent coat & condition, very sound positive gait. RCC; 2 Bakers Pacolito Funky Monkey, very good type with good head & expression, deserved his place in this strong class, has a pleasing outline complimented by a good topline & tailset, well angulated, has strong pasterns & feet which he uses with purpose on the move; 3 Bygates Wyndynook Jeckyl And Hide, very good type with excellent head & expression, well constructed throughout, good coat & condition. I thought this dog might take the class at one point but he has several missing teeth which cost him higher honours. A lot to like about this dog especially his excellent type. OD (16,1) 1 Brown & Granges Ch Afinlea Roadside Skipper, t/w, very nice type who has a lot going for him, very well constructed with good angulation, very nice outline with strong topline & correct tailset, good bone, strong feet & hocks. This dog took the class with his excellent movement; a rare commodity on the day; 2 Prices Ch Gonetoground Rockin Robin, gone to pieces Rockin Robin perhaps? Such a great dog but he was not putting it in. Excellent type with everything you could want in a Parson. I guess he has just had enough of showing & does not enjoy it any more, I understand this will be his last show. You cannot ignore this dog & his past achievements speak for themselves; 3 Cedrics Ch/Sp/Por/Ger Ch Alexie Del La Roche Turpin, t/w, very good type, very honest dog with no exaggeration, in excellent coat & condition, well constructed, makes a good shape standing & on the move.
VB (5,1) 1 Hussey Wilfords Ch Clystlands Emblazonment, t/w, very good type & in excellent condition for her age, very calm but expressive head of very good type, in very good coat which is dense & hard, movement was very good in fact much better than some dogs half her age; 2 Pells Starlight Epress at Ollieebark, tri, good head, neat ears, excellent coat & condition, spannable & made a good shape standing & on the move; 3 Brown & Granges Afinlea Garden Tiger, what a good name, very nice typy bitch, in good coat, has a good outline & tailset, showed & moved well for her handler. A trio of golden oldies. PB (5) 1 Bakers Pacolito Phistclass, very good type with excellent head & expression, well angulated making a pleasing outline with good topline & tailset, balanced youngster who has a pleasing outline standing & on the move, strong pasterns & hocks which she uses to effect; 2 Smith & Moons Alncroft Everlong, unlucky to meet the winner in this class as she is also a very nice bitch. Very good type with typical head & pleasing expression, good angulation with good legs & feet to match. Very close these two could swap places at any time. Moved well; 3 Swifts Pacolito Picture Monkey, sound bitch of good type, I particularly liked her head with good eye shape & neat ears, has a good coat which is hard & deep. Just not as positive on the move as the first two. JB (6,2) 1 Higgins Pacolita Pacolita Dymanti Prima Dona, t/w bitch of excellent type, well put together being well angulated, presents a nice picture with good topline & tailset, very good legs, feet & hocks which she used with great affect on the move; 2 Smiths Bethane Hulabaloo, nice head & expression, good eye & neat ears, spannable & was in good coat & condition. Would like to see a little more animation on the move; 3 Posses Neelans Sugarbabe, smooth t/w bitch of a good type, good head & expression, good angulation, moved OK. YB (12,3) 1 Newports Pacolito Xpectations, very good type with excellent head & keen well shaped eye, well angulated in her front & rear assemblies, nice hard coat in great condition, very balanced in static & kinetic modes, she kept her shape at all times, very good on the move; 2 Bakers Pacolito Pathfinder, very similar to 1 in many ways. This kennel is producing some very nice Parsons. Very nice head but I prefer the head of 1. Very nice hard coat, in very good condition & muscletone, well presented by handler; 3 Collis Alncroft Tribute to Riplington, nice tri bitch with a lot to like about her, good head & expression, good reach of neck & hard coat. A littler untidy on the move, she makes quite a nice shape when she is standing. Well presented by handler. PGB (13,1) 1 Bygates Pacolito Xsquisite at Windynook, very impressive young bitch of excellent type, excellent head & expression, dark eyes of a good shape, neat ears & good reach of neck which makes a pleasing outline with good topline & tailset, very sound on the move, she will go far; 2 Swifts Pacolito Phlirt, good head & expression with dark eyes of a good shape, well constructed throughout with good front & rear assembly with strong hocks to power around the ring, good bone & feet, has a lot going for her; 2 Bakers Pacolito Picturesque, the breeders of the two above, a great achievement to take first three in a class at Crufts. I understand seventeen dogs from this kennel qualified for Crufts. Obviously not afraid to sell good dogs as this is the fifth class where the major honours have gone to these breeders. Very nice bitch of a good type, good angulation but not as good as the winner. Excellent coat & in excellent condition. LB (12) 1 Lightfoots Middlemoss The Only One, nice bitch of a good type, pleasing head which not overdone in any way, an honest well constructed bitch with good angulation, bone, legs & feet, well balanced & won this class on her very positive movement, presented well by the handler; 2 Kearneys Pacolito Premonition at Kannye, t/w, very good type with good head & dark eye, neat ears, good reach of neck, in good coat & excellent condition. Moved well but not the positive gait of 1; 3 Pattyns Suzan Pride Edition On, just about spannable, nice bitch of a good type, good head with a powerful jaw, well presented by the handler & deserved her place in this class, moved OK. OB (15,2) Very strong class & some excellent bitches went away with nothing. 1 Prices Ch Miss Teeq of Andralok, has great ring presence & showmanship, quality like its sister mercy falls like the rain from heaven, this bitch must have been in a shower. Excellent type, excellent head & expression, dark eyes & neat ears giving her a look of quality, good reach of neck which is so important in making the whole picture balance, has the correct balance in static & kinetic mode & shows us what is possible to achieve in this breed, beauty in the shape of a working bitch, put down to perfection & represented the breed in the group with great honour. In my humble opinion she at least deserved to make the cut. CC & BOB; 2 Bygates Ch Congrats Secret Rock, another very nice bitch of exceptional quality, exudes the Parson type, very good head & expression with good eye & well set ears of good shape, good reach of neck with good topline & tailset, has the correct amount of bone & good feet, balanced bitch, moved very well & gave all she had to take second in this the best class of the day by far. RCC; 3 Smith & Moons Ch Pacolito Phantastic at Alncroft, making up a trio of fine bitches she has everything going for her to make it to the top. Of very good type & has ring presence to match, well constructed all through, she moved & showed well although her topline did break occasionally on the move.

Critiques

I was very pleased and honoured to be invited to judge the club show. As always the clubs hospitality was excellent and I had a thoroughly enjoyable day.  The quality of the dogs was overall very good its just a shame that entries were fairly low.  The committee members put so much effort into planning and organising their Shows so exhibitors, please support their shows in 2008.

Special thanks to Dave Mitchell and Brian Doyle my stewards on the day.

Veteran Dog/Bitch  (3,1)

  1. Sacco, Roberts & Murrays  Ch. Mindlen Muddler Minnow JW a real quality dog, not showing his age. Movement was good, overall shape and size very pleasing.
  2. Lightfoots Holdobur Spring Fever, a nice quality bitch who moved soundly who again does not show her age.  She didnt particularly help her handler today.
  3. Minor Puppy Dog (3) really good quality of young dogs in this class all quite capable of winning

1. Warne & Marshalls Im on Fire, a nice youngster very alert, made his handler work hard to keep him focussed on the job in hand.  Good coat, nice rear angulation which enabled him to move with drive.  Nicely marked and good shaped head and keen eye.  I was pleased to give him Reserve Best Puppy in Show.

2. Roberts and Todds Mindlen Rabbit, again another very good quality youngster with great potential.  Moved well maintaining a good topline, nice shaped head with a keen eye

3.Swifts Pacolito Puzzle Monkey.  Nice shape and size but not quite such good movement as 1 & 2.  Nice pleasing head and keen eye.

 Puppy Dog

1.                  (2) Roberts and Todds Mindlen Rabbit

2.                  Johnsons Garsayno the Dandy, still very much a puppy, needs to tighten up in his movement, has the potential to improve as he matures.  Nice head and earset.

Junior Dog

1.                  (1) Coppings Rutarroo White Wizzard provided a nice ouline when standing but on the move appeared loose in his front movement not helped by his slight reluctance to walk on the mats.  Nice shaped head and earset.

 Limit Dog (2)

1.                  Bygates Windynook Jeckyl and Hide, good shaped head with keen eye and earset.  Moved well maintaining a good topline finished off with a correct tailset.  Provided a pleasing outline when standing.  Pleased to award him Reserve Best Dog.

2.                  Doyles Alne Master Piece of Ilexquercus Sh Cm, a nice strong dog, with slightly heavier shoulders than 1, moved well, maintaining a very balanced stride.  Good coat, well shaped head and earset.  A dog and handler very much in harmony,

Open Dog (5, 3)

1.                  Roberts and Todds Ch Mindlen Brown Trout, a lovely dog who took my eye as soon as he entered the ring.  Really nicely proportioned in all respects which made his movement spot on !!  Provided a good clean outline.  I was pleased to award him Best Dog.

2.                  Bygates Windynook Sequel, another super dog with a good shaped head with keen eye and earset.  Moved very well maintaining a good topline.  Pushed hard for Reserve Best Dog.

 Minor Puppy Bitch (2,1)

1.                  Swifts Pacolito Picture Monkey, standing alone in this class.  A very pleasing young bitch with great potential.  Very well handled.  She was nicely balanced and her movement was lovely.  I was delighted to award her Best Puppy in Show.

 Puppy Bitch (1)

1.                  Steels Garsayno the Dancer, quite an eyecatching individual, moved well, looked very mature despite her young age.  Nice strongly marked head and good ear set.  Well handled.

 Junior Bitch (2,1)
1.                  Bygates Pacolito Xsquisite at Windynook, provided a lovely shape and size.  Moved well, good angulation providing her with drive.  Will watch the progress of this bitch with interest.  Great potential.

 Post Graduate Bitch (6,5)

 1.                  Coppings Cragrats Secret Star at Rutaaro, Really nice bitch who moved well although slightly close up in rear movement .  Good topline and tailset..  Certainly in good shape and condition despite having whelped recently.

 Limit Bitch (4,2)

1.                  Lightfoots Middlemoss the Only One a nice mature bitch, very honest individual what you see is what you get.  Held a good topline on the move, good movement.  Good shape of head.  Pushed hard for Best Bitch.  Was pleased to award her Reserve Best bitch.

2.                  Roberts and Murrays Mindlen Tippet at Gonetoground.  Another nice bitch of different type to 1.  Very alert and ready to work. Not quite as good movement as 1.  Provided a nice outline standing, nice size and shape.  Lovely head and earset.

 Open Bitch (5,1)

1.                  Johnsons Garsayno Tutti Fruiti a bitch with lovely ring presence, caught my eye straightaway.  Handled really well.  Good coat and well marked head.  Really well muscled and ready for work.  Moved well, maintaining a good topline and tailset.   I was delighted to award her with Best Bitch and BIS.

2.                  Roberts and Murrays Ch Mindlen Mataura a bitch I really like and have admired for sometime.  Moved really well but not with quite the same pace and enthusiasm as 1.  Lovely outline, nice shaped head and earset.  Pushed hard for reserve best bitch.

3.                  Roberts and Murrays Ch Alne Little Vixen of Mindlen looked a slightly heavier bitch than 1 and 2 but easily spannable.  Again a good quality bitch who moved well.  Good coat.
