About NPPC

The Naracoorte Poultry & Pigeon Club Inc. was established most probably when the Naracoorte Pastoral & Agricultural Society was formed in the early 1900’s.  Since then Naracoorte has always had a small poultry club until 1994 when interest was lost and memberships were at an all time low, which forced the club into dormancy.

In July 2007, a group of past and new poultry enthusiasts called a meeting of interested people.  Election of office bearers took place and the NP&PC was reborn!  Bank accounts were reclaimed, paper work was updated, and with help from the South Australian Poultry Association, insurance and affiliation was organised.

With working bees carried out the NP&PC shed, situated at the Naracoorte Showgrounds, was ready to roll again.  The club had its first show on the Naracoorte P&A Society Show Day in October 2007.  It was a resounding success with 280 birds exhibited and over 2000 people passing through the doors. There was a lot of support and interest from the community with much positive feedback.  Exhibitors came from Portland to Keith, Kingston to Apsley and everywhere in between.

A Sale Day was conducted in November 2007 which was also a success, with a local real estate agent auctioneering.

The future of the club is bright.  Plans are afoot to swell the penning capacity to 500 birds, and further enhancements will continue.  The NP&PC is excited about the growing member list of all ages, especially juniors.

The 2009-10 committee is listed below.  Plese contact any of the committee members for more information regarding the club.
