Nevada Opera Youth Chorus

Welcome to the home page of the Nevada Opera Youth Chorus website!  This is a gathering place for parents, current singers, potential singers, and alumni to log on to see what the singers of the Nevada Opera Youth Chorus (NOYC) are doing this season! 

The Nevada Opera Youth Chorus is now open to all singers in the Northern Nevada area in grades 3-12.  In addition to our younger choir grades 3-6, we are building a second level of NOYC, singers grades 8-12.  Our hope is to have a leveled choir with offerings for all age groups appropriate to their skill and age group. The students involved in the 7-12 grade group sing more challenging music in SAB/SATB arrangements suited to their ability and age level in addition to the usual large group rehearsal for all singers from 4:30-6 each Tuesday. Our mission is to have a strong focus on age appropriate vocal production, building stage presence and performance skills, encouraging professional deportment on and off stage, gaining music literacy skills and instilling a life-long appreciation for all genres of high quality literature from opera, musical theater, multicultural, folk music, the classics, and more. 

Our singers are made up of students from public schools, private and parochial schools as well as those who participate in homeschooling. We audition singers twice a year for membership (September and January). The tuition for students accepted into the NOYC program is $200 a year plus the cost of uniform.  We also have a scholarship program available for singers and will not turn anyone away for financial difficulties.
