How To Achieve Radio Sound Jingles With Launching Effects

Well for the most part you might be thinking about rocket launches, no of course, were not talking about NASA. Sure we’ve received a lot of email requests from our dear avid fans and radio imaging guys, asking about how to achieve that great sounding radio sound jingles that gives off a launching effect.

These guys are actually talking about ramps. Ramps are all the rage these days in radio imaging. But this approach is not new in the world of radio jingles. Ramps are a great way to segue from a spot break to introduce another set of playlist. In most cases ramps are used in top of hours, which really kicks a nice sounding radio jingle and a launching effect that full throttles the station to greater speeds.

If you’re like most radio imaging directors you’d definitely want the best for your station. Go for cutting edge jingle companies like Reelworld and N2Effect, their jingles smash! You can check out their sites for you to achieve that cool sounding jingles with launching effects.

Some radio imaging people hate ramps. Ramps can turn live DJs into clowns since they had to catch up with the short music bed provided by their jingle package. Pre-produced top of hour launching pads would be a great alternative.

But there’s just no cooler way to kick off another hour of music than to do it live. Almost all of the radio stations in the Philippines do it on the spot. Yet the problem is in the pad. Ordinary drum loops or pulse beds don’t sound great for top of hours, the bed has to rise into a certain climax before that punch of your station’s logo is blown.

Okay, here’s the secret to achieve that great sounding (not necessarily jingles) launching effects pads your DJs can use for your station’s live top of hour. Assume you already have background in audio editing. Carefully follow the steps.

  • 1. Download drum loops and seamlessly edit them together to create a basic drum pad.
  • 2. The length of the pad must be between 30 sec to 1 minute but that depends on the usual length of your top of hour.
  • 3. Add some effects like reverb and flanger. Do some EQ.
  • 4. Then overlay a rising sound effect with its length snapped to the end of the drum pad.
  • 5. Then overlap your station’s voiceover that bears your station logo and or opening TOH liner.
  • 6. Do some mastering and presto there goes your cool sounding ramp jingles (that aren’t really jingles after all) with a hip launching effect. Here are the materials you will use for this workshop. Visit our blog at http://radiojingles.wordpress.com
