(An Interview of Radio Jingles with Yeosh and Jon of Push Button Productions)
Two superheroes however decided to come out in the open and save the whole world from ultimate destruction or shall we say ear drum destruction. Yeosh Bendayan and Jon Ruhff of Push Button Productions saved many advertisers, radio stations and truck drivers and kids too. These guys took a bold step and changed the phase of radio commercial production. Their team has already produced award winning ads that spell quality and even affordability – commercials that sound good, taste good you want to have the rest of it. One day, though, Yeosh and Jon took a break from their usual superhero-saving routine and replied a fan mail composed of questions. The guys were so kind enough to write back and Radio Jingles is lucky as well to share it with you. How long have you been into creating radio jingles and ads and how did you start out? We have been working together for over two years and have a combined 11 years of experience in voiceover and production work. We met while working at Rock104 in Gainesville, Florida. We got together to work on some station promos and worked really well together and really understood each other’s sense of humor. (We were shocked when other people got it as well!) Did you have any radio broadcasting experience (being a personality, or a staff)? If so, did it help perfecting your talents in crafting good materials? We both have had extensive work in radio. Both of us worked on-air at a radio station in Gainesville (Rock104) for several years. Our experience there producing station imaging, and commercials for local business is what sparked Push Button Productions. What problems have you seen on conventional production of advertising materials for radio that triggered your desire to revolutionize radio jingles? We were meeting with several local clients who were frustrated with the quality of production work in town. Many of them were looking out of the market to find music and commercial production companies. Some of them went to major markets, spent a ton of cash and still came back with poorly produced work. We knew we had something special when these clients were turning to us and saying that we produced better work than agencies in major markets. Your ideas are great, but your Push-button commercial option and Commercial-in-a zip options are even more terrific, how did you come up with these? We had a meeting with our Super-attorney and business growth-expert, Nick Nanton and were brainstorming about ways to bring costs down for clients on a tight budget. We figured offering stock commercials was the way to go because the production costs are diffused by many different clients. That's how we developed the 'Commercials-in-a-zip'. We basically offer 3 commercials a month at a discounted, but limited time, price The Create-a-Commercials page just fit in line with everything we had done before. We really believe in giving clients what they want, so it was natural to give them the ability to let us know what they want in their spot. After all, they're the ones paying for it! What's the greatest material you have ever produced? We have won awards for a lot of our production, but our favorites change all the time. We recently produced a jingle for Aquatropics, an aquarium-supply store and based the tune on The Beatles song "Yellow Submarine." The owners tried to get something similar done with another company who wasn't able to meet their specifications. When they popped our version in, they were floored, and we agreed that our music team had really outdone themselves with that one. As for a commercial, we really like the "Trio" right now, which you can find on our "Commercials-in-a-Zip" section. This spot won us an award from the American Advertising Federation. Your testimonial tells about your work even with very tight budget, how do you deal with it? We take customers budgets into consideration when we're developing a new campaign. With jingles for example, we explain to customers that it will work out for their budget in the long run. After the jingle is produced, we are able to offer a monthly voice over update at a substantially lower rate than producing a whole new commercial. If you change that voiceover a few times to announce sales or special promotions, you will have saved more in the long run than what it cost to produce that jingle. You've created brilliant ideas for radio ads, will you consider offering other production works like say for example , producing a station ID jingle package for a radio station? We have been producing station imaging for years. It's a lot of fun to do and it's a nice break from the routine. We would definitely consider doing station imaging or producing jingles. In regards to anything else, we are always looking for a challenge and would actually love to hear some different uses for our audio production!
