Our concern
Our concern is that too many individual dogs are being over-vaccinated.
We define over-vaccinating as any vaccination in excess of what is necessary to prevent disease when this also has the proven potential to cause serious adverse reactions and/or chronic health problems in our dogs.
There is compelling anecdotal evidence that over-vaccination is causing health problems in many of our dogs. This anecdotal evidence is supported by the findings of Veterinary Researchers.
Health problems attributed to vaccination include but are not limited to - seizures, encephalitis, allergies, skin problems, nasal and eye discharge, cancers, gastro-intestinal problems, various auto-immune diseases, thyroid and adrenal gland problems, etc.
There is also evidence that re-vaccination is not even necessary for ongoing protection against those diseases being vaccinated against.
It has been shown that the minimum duration of immunity following vaccination against the core canine viral diseases is 7 years, and it is believed this immunity actually lasts for the lifetime of the dog. This evidence comes from Veterinary Immunologists.
It has been stated by one eminent researcher (Dr Ronald Schultz) that if a pup or young dog is vaccinated against distemper and parvovirus after the maternal antibodies have waned, then provided the vaccine 'takes', that dog will be immune against those diseases for life.

We are concerned that adverse reactions to vaccinations are under reported, and we are concerned that so many veterinarians attribute classic adverse reactions, e.g. facial swelling, to some unrelated cause.
We are concerned that too few dog owners know about the Adverse Experience Reporting Program, and we are concerned that too many dogs are being vaccinated when they are not technically 'healthy'. According to vaccine manufacturers' labels, unless a dog is healthy it should not be vaccinated.
Veterinarians who are aware of the risks urge that a dog which is stressed, which is under a general anesthetic or immediately following surgery, which has a chronic illness, allergies, is on treatment for an infection or has a history of immune system disorder, etc. is not technically healthy. In these states a dog's immune system is either not functioning at its peak, or is 'busy' dealing with another challenge.
A multi-component live virus vaccine, i.e. a C3 or C5, is itself a robust challenge to the immune system, and when given on top of other existing factors, it can prove too much for the dog to cope with.
We are concerned because many of us remember that before the days of mass vaccination, typical rural and urban dogs acquired natural immunity and lived healthy lives for 15, 16 or 17 years. They were not fed from a can or a packet, and unless they were injured, they almost never saw a veterinarian because they didn't get sick.
Our own species is not considered in need of multi-component live virus vaccines every twelve months throughout our lives - why are they given to our dogs?
