EVER wanted to tread the boards?
Well, now you can, after a new theatre group for youngsters was set up in Lowton.
Organised by Wigan Pier Theatre Company, the weekly workshops are designed for youngsters aged between 12 and 15, from the Lowton and Golborne areas. The sessions will be run by professional workers.
The first session starts on Monday and will be free for those interested.
Martin Green, development officer for Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust, said: "These sessions are ideal for anyone who likes acting, drama games, using their imagination, writing scripts, improvisation or even storytelling.
"The workshops are great social occasions and are really good fun to be involved in.
"They are also a chance to receive top acting tips from professional actors for free."
The new group has been set up thanks to a £5,000 grant from the neighbourhood renewal fund and the theatres have already been successful elsewhere in the borough.
Mr Green added: "Since we started to develop the youth theatres in 2004, young people from across the borough have been offered lots of theatrical opportunities and have had the chance to receive high quality tutoring in their local area.
"We have also organised drama trips and offered opportunities to perform in Manchester and all around the borough."
The workshops will run on Monday evenings, between 7.30pm until 9pm, at Lowton Youth and Community Centre on Newton Road.
For more information, contact Martin Green or Stewart Aitken on 01942 709305 or feel free to just turn up on the night.
