A Lowton Sparrow
There are a number of explanations for the calling of Lowton Folk "Lowton Sparrows". If you know another please let us know.

One states that a Lowton Sparrow is a person who was born in Lowton, moved away and then returned back to live in Lowton.

Another is that many years ago the village was over run by sparrows, and the local lads would catch them, kill them, and they would get paid by the land owner for the amount of sparrow heads they could show.
