ABOUT "MY BAND" Ok, so...first off: Why is Paul Mccartney's backing band called "My Band", anyway? Has "My Band" ever recorded together with Paul McCartney? They have. In early 2001, "My Band" (minus Brian Ray) recorded "Driving Rain" with Paul, along with Paul's son James, Gabe Dixon, and David Kahne. Originally, the band were set to play with Paul on "Chaos and Creation in the Backyard", his latest album, but were sent packing by C&C producer Nigel Godrich after he decided that he wanted Paul playing all the instruments. However, Brian, Rusty, and Abe do appear on one track entitled "Follow Me". On a track in Rusty Anderson's Undressing Underwater called"Hurt Myself", Paul sings backup vocals and plays bass.
Have any of the musicans attempted their own solo EPs/LPs? Both Brian Ray and Rusty Anderson have released their own solo albums independantly and have done so with great success. You can purchase Brian Ray's "Mondo Magneto" and Rusty's "Undressing Underwater" on cdbaby.com, amazon.com, and iTunes. To learn more about their albums, cllick above on their individual pages! Do any of the members of "My Band" ever play their own shows? Actually, two of them do! Brian Ray and Rusty Anderson often play small gigs in L.A., with Brian playing a bit more than Rusty. While neither I nor Ashley have been lucky enough to attend any of these shows, we know some people who have, and we've heard nothing but rave reviews from them (seriously.. how could they be bad!?). Rusty has been making a series of appearances at Borders across the country to promote his new CD "Undressing Underwater". Brian is accompanied by renouned musicians Peter Thorn (5 for Fighting) and Scott Shriner (Weezer). See Brian and Rusty's official sites for details!
So who runs this thing anyways? Not Such Bad Boys is a tribute site run by two crazy-awesome admirers who prefer to be called Ashley and Jackie. Ashley (better known around here as "Dollierocker") was born in Wilmin...wait, wait. This isn't one of THOSE biographies now is it? Let's just fast-forward to the life-changing events of September 22nd/23rd 2005, when this Dollie felt like the luckiest girl in all the land. It was on those two days that she was entertained by the finest group of gentelman the world has yet to see: Paul Mccartney and "My Band"! She was so captivated by the four lads backing up Sir Paul that she felt the need to create a website dedicated for them, the first of it's kind! She wants to come right out and say that Brian Ray is her favorite member of the band, because he's a great friend and has that stage presence that just makes her smile. She believes in peace and love and appreciates that Paul spreads those ideals through his music. Jackie is your ordinary Brian Ray/Rusty Anderson/Abe Laboriel Jr./Paul Wix Wickens fangirl. On September 30th, 2005, she had the pleasure of yelling "I LOVE YOU!" to Wix. It was then, when Wix gave a her nervous smile and a thumbs up, that she realized just how crazy she was, and sank back down, red-faced, into her seat. Jackie is the lazier of the two webmistresses, and sits back eating Ben & Jerry's ice cream and raving about little chocolate fish in it, while Ashley works her arse off maintaining this site, and still gives Jackie half credit (thank you Ashley) :) Can I help you at all? By all means! Comments, feedback, and suggestions are greatly appreciated and welcomed. Have a cool picture we could use in our gallery? Or peradventure an article we don't have in our database? Send it to us! Check out the Contact page on the left hand side for details.
