A new defective gentic flaw has come to light in many Australian Ragdolls.
If you are thinking of purchasing any breeding stock, it is recommended that you request a genetic DNA test showing the statis of ANY potential diseases that the cat may carry. The recommended test is carried out in USA for approx. USD$40. In particular the test for MPSM as there are carrier cats in Australia. This defect has slipped in with almost all Breeders being unaware of its presence and in no way reflects on any one person. It is important that all Breeders take the responsibility and have their current cats tested to confirm their carrier status, to eradicate this unwanted mutation from our beautiful cats.
Testing can be arranged by contacting the following web site:
For pet owners, be wary of paying too much for any kittens regardless of colour and only a slight difference in price between males and females. It is also unwise to purchase any undesexed kittens/cats.

Notredame Ragdoll Cattery was established in the early 1990's when we acquired our first Ragdoll pet cats, Abbey and Kaluha. They were just adorable and our love affair with this beautiful fun loving breed began. Next came our first show cats, Sinatra, Leo and Lotte. From these three cats we commenced learning all we could about the breed, together with the hands on knowledged gained attending shows, speaking with other Ragdoll Breeders, and of course the Judges. After two years we were confident enough to tackle the next step .....breeding.
