GOD'S TRUE PROPHETS

By Jim Meletiou

While reading the Bible, I noticed that most prophecies in the Bible spoke of disasters, destruction, distresses, and tribulations. While listening to modern-day prophets, I found most of them are preaching the peace and prosperity message. Furthermore, I noticed that several of the ones in the Bible who did preached/prophesied peace and prosperity, were denounced by God’s prophets as false prophets. Let’s look at what some of the prophets in the Bible prophesied.

Moses

After Moses brought the Hebrews/Israelites out of Egyptian bondage, God spoke to him twice and told him that those people would turn away from His laws and become evil.

From Deuteronomy 31, we read these words:

16 And the Lord said to Moses: "Behold, you will rest with your fathers; and this people will arise and play the harlot with the gods of the foreigners of the land, where they go to be among them, and they will forsake Me and break My covenant which I have made with them."

20 "When I have brought them to the land flowing with milk and honey, of which I swore to their fathers, and they have eaten and filled themselves and grown fat, then they will turn to other gods and serve them; and they will provoke Me and break My covenant."

Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel

Spent whole chapters denouncing the sins of the people of Israel, Judea, and the surrounding nations. See Ezekiel 16

Jeremiah withstood those who prophesied peace and prosperity in 14:13-15

Then I said, "Oh, Lord GOD! Behold, the prophets say unto them, ‘You shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.’" And the Lord said to me, "The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, a worthless thing, and the deceit of their heart......By sword and famine those prophets shall be consumed."

Jesus

Prophesied a time of great tribulation—such as had never been before, and would never be again Matthew 24:21

Paul

In 2nd Timothy 3:1, Paul wrote these words: ".....in the last days dangerous [perilous] times will come..."

Revelation

Describes the fall of "Babylon the Great" or "The Mighty Babylon"—the systems of this world. Chapter 19:21 describes the taking of the leaders in the last great battle, and adds: "....the rest [of God’s/Christ’s enemies] were killed with the sword which comes from the mouth of the one who was sitting on the horse [Jesus]."

Now, the question arises: Are there true prophets today who are prophesying the same things that Jesus prophesied: a time of Great Tribulation? Yes. Here are three of them:
