The 2007 Texas State Hispanic Genealogy Conference is proud to congratulate the winners of the Tejano Book Prize of 2007.
In 2006, the Texas State Genealogical Society of Austin, Inc. issued a call for entries of published books from the years 2006 - 2007 for its first annual competition. The goal of the Cleotilde P. García Tejano Book Prize is to give Tejano heritage books greater recognition from historians, scholars, academicians, and the film, television, and multimedia communities.
This competition focused on ushering these published books on Tejano heritage into the spotlight, and bringing attention to Tejano heritage, history and contributions. The judges were Dr. Guadalupe San Miguel and Dr. Raul Ramos of the University of Houston. The awards were based on scholarly criteria.
The program director for the Cleotilde P. García Tejano Book Prize is Loretta Williams of Houston, Texas. We wish to thank Loretta, the judges, and the committee for setting a wonderful precedent in this competition.
CONGRATULATIONS
