The chook’s demise

Imagine our surprise and horror when we visited our bachelor uncle at his farm, greeted on our arrival by the sight of a ripped fly wire screen and a blood splattered path below the window. Almost too scared to venture inside, it was with great relief that we found him peacefully sitting at the kitchen table, cup of tea in hand.

‘What happened outside?’ I asked

‘Oh the window you mean’ he replied ‘well this bloody fox has been grabbing a chook every few mornings, and this morning the cheeky buggar was strutting right past the window with one in his mouth. I grabbed the gun and fired at him through the screen, didn’t have time to do much else!’

‘You get him?’…

‘Nah…the bastard was too close, but I sure killed the chook though!’

true story…
