LAYOUT PLAN

Above is the layout plan for Norwood Park.

Red track is/will be fitted with dummy third rail. Black track is non-electrified.

Blue sections represent inspection pits, which are situated either side of the fuel point.

To the bottom left of the plan is the "Fiddle Yard", which as you can see due to a shortage of space each road is independant. Locos/stock is moved around using the Peco "Locolifts". Entrance to the fiddle yard will either be via tunnels, or more likely a bridge.

The station and it's serving lines are all situated on a slightly higher level than the stabling/fuel point area, and are seperated by a continuous embankment approximately an inch in height.

NEW TRACK LAYOUT

Above is the new track layout on Norwood Park. After spending an hour or so (!) operating it in it's original format, the penny finally dropped that I needed some additional sidings to improve operations.

A quick visit to the Garden Shed unearthed a pile of wood left over from previous baseboards (In fact, the baseboards for Norwood Park and Chartlane are both born from a total of 3 previous layouts!). A triangular section was knocked together and 3 Stabling sidings fitted, with 3 points serving them. There was a small catch though - the entrance to the new Stabling sidings was, in true forward planning fashion, the only section I had ballasted to date!....

Some cutting-and-shutting later and the stabling point was created. It greatly improves the operation, and improves interest. The recent purchase of a "walkabout" controller for the Lenz DCC system has also allowed two people to now operate the layout, which adds further interest.

.....And after yet more "Penny Dropping" and liberations from the scrap wood pile in my shed, a further two stabling sidings have been added, infront of the fuelling/servicing area. this provides enough space for a further 5 locos to be stabled, and again greatly improves operational interest. Three fuel tanks have also been constructed and added.
