Norwood Manor - A brief histore
Norwood
Manor is located in southeast Atlanta, GA five miles from Five Points,
near the Lakewood Fairgrounds and Southview Cemetery. The community has
existed since 1954. It is one of the first subdivisions developed for
African Americans in Atlanta. The original residents were hard working
middleclass folk from all walks of life: postal workers, steel workers,
railroad employees, etc. Today's families in "The Manor" are
similar in makeup to the original families. There are a total of 115
homes in the community known as "The Manor" with several more homes
across the Georgia
Southern Railroad that are an extended part of our neighborhood.
