English dancing - in New Zealand |

Home Welcome!
(mostly us but there are a few sneaky Tussock Jumpers I see too...) We are a Christchurch-based team who perform Morris dances from the North West of England. This style of dance was performed by cotton mill workers wearing their everyday footwear of wooden-soled leather clogs. These clogs on the cobbled streets and the clashing sticks (weaving loom shuttles) would have created much noise. The dancing is fun and keeps us fit. Visitors are welcome at our practices on Thursday nights - 7.45 at Waimairi Road Community Hall.
We were deserted! Our musician has returned. If you can play a portable instrument and would be interested in joining her PLEASE, PLEASE get in touch.
Its no good - we've seen you now... |
