Jetstream T.2

Jetstream T2 (RAF XX475/ CIVIL  G-AWVJ)

The aircraft first flew in March 1969, was transferred to International Jetstream Corporation in May of that year and registered N1036S. In October it was delivered to Regency Income Ventures and then sold on to Highland State Minerals Inc in September 1971. In May 1972 it was purchased by Scottish Aviation and converted to a T Mk4. It was sold to the Royal Air Force in April 1973 as XX475 and was delivered to RAF Okington in August 1974. The trainer became a victim of the 1974 defence review, which reduced the requirements for multi-engine turboprop transporters in the RAF. After a period of storage at RAF St Athan, it was brought back by Scottish Aviation in September1975 and one year later went to the Royal Navy's 750 Squadron.  The aircraft was  converted to a T Mk2 in August 1980.Then, in 1996 it was transferred to the Defence Test Evaluation Organisation and then to the Defence Evaluation Research Agency (DERA) in April 1997. The name was changed to QUINETQ in July 2001. The Jetstream was withdrawn from service at Boscombe Down in July 2005and went into storage with Everett Aero. Since December 2005 it has been at Northbrook College, Department of Aeronautical Engineering, at Shoreham Airport.

The Jetstream T2 has two Turbomeca Astazou XVID engines. They each produce up to 139lbs of thrust and deliver 912 shaft horse power S.H.P. Its weight is approximately 200kg (440lbs) without the propeller, starter generator, alternator and hydraulic pump.
