Beagle Restoration

This is the prototype B206X, G-ARRM. Originally the Bristol 220 design, it later became the first major Beagle project - the B206, 5-7 seat executive aircraft. The aircraft first flew at Shoreham on the 15th August 1961 with pilot John Nicholson at the controls. A special C of A was issued on the 18th August in that year enabling its first public appearance at S.B.A.C show at Farnborough in September. It was flown by H.R.H. the Duke of Edinburgh in 1962.

After a meticulous three years of testing and development totalling 300 hours and 443 landings it flew for 3 years. Its last flight was on the 5th August 1964.

40 Beagle B206s were built between 1961 and 1969 including 20 Bassets for the Royal Air Force. It  was exported to 19 countries.

 The Beagle's specifications:

2x Rolls Royce Continental IO-470A, a wing span of 38 foot (11.58 meters), a length of 32 foot 7inches (9.93 meters). Its maximum weight was 6310 lb (2862 kilograms),   cruising speed of 228 miles per hour (369 kilometres per hour), a maximum range of 1150 miles (1850 kilometres)

These are the ailerons that we took off , stripped and prepared for painting.

This is one of the two wing pins we  had to turn on the lathe as they were missing.
