No Quarters Awesome Finale at Clarence

Sorry but I just love No Quarter and I had to go see them bring Clarence 2007 Festival to a close on Sunday night. As always they were incredible, a big stage suits this band and the material they play is fabulous. This material is approaching it's 40th birthday but 70% of the audience were 15-20 year olds and they knew the words! These youngsters were thrilled with the band's repertoire, and moshing and singing they had a great time. Highlights for me were Rock Bottom and the Led Zeppelin medley. Top marks to the PA crew, the sound was fantastic too! Nice to see the No Quarter fan club there, great people!

The totally fabulous No Quarter played a fantastic set at Bellhouse Road Club on Friday night proving to us what a "Premiership" side they really are! It was no surprise that the band were brilliant as we have seen them many times rocking the pubs in West Yorkshire with carefully honed musicianship. Tonight was slightly different as they performed in a club, but a rock loving club, Bellhouse Road in Sheffield. The repertoire to a rock fan was unsurpassed but to club fans, they  might have missed their slightly boring Journey staples. Nothing wrong with the American superstars material but No Quarter play hard rock...real rock...classic rock in fact! Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, UFO, Sabbath, Ozzy, Purple, Whitesnake...a fantastic repertoire played so competently. Mo ,Lee, Ian and Sir Rod are the consummate rock band, very few come close. We at Rock of the North just love this band, they epitomise all that's good about the semi pro scene in the area. Charitable souls that they are, they have agreed to play at the Bag and Barrel Charity festival in Allerton Bywater on Bank Holiday Monday, with Piston Broke, Talliwhacker, Rockabilly Rebels,90cc...and perhaps Optic Nerve. We can't wait!

CARL OF MELTDOWN

Any band who plays Mr Crowley, Lights Out and Rock Bottom in one night must certainly be good in my books! Great repertoire last night from No Quarter. My favourite of the night was definitely Highway Star - what an excellent performance! Mo suited Gillan's vocals perfectly and the band absolutely nailed it. Looking forward to seeing these guys again.

just a short reply regarding all the recent comments about No Quarter. It's very rare that we contribute to the R.O.T.N. comments page, but we do read it and keep ourselves informed with what's going on around us. In the last few weeks, we have had a lot of positive feedback which we really do appreciate, and of course it's nice that so many of you are taking an interest in the type of music we play. We work hard at what we do as I'm sure most of the bands in our area do too, but the one thing we should all never forget is, you only get out what you put in, be it music, sport. work or whatever. Finally, my young hero RICK ( FERAL )said in a recent comment I SALUTE YOU but today No Quarter say to all you R.O.T.N. people, especially the Windy Corner gang WE SALUTE YOU.

Thanks Mo, but we should be thanking you for the entertainment you give , and the generous input you make to Charity through your performances. You are a shining example of what is good about RotN, because we are RotN the website, trying to promote the scene, but you are the true Rock of the North with all the other bands and fans. It is nice to be appreciated though and makes all the hours I spend on this PC worthwhile. Can't wait for Bank Holiday Monday. Your advice is welcome and I'm sure everyone would agree.

There I was all ready for pipe and slippers when me old mate and fellow guitarist Nige Dobson (ex Guns n Oatcakes, ex Alcatraz, ex Snowblind etc etc) persuaded me to go down to the Ship in Royston to see his old comrades NO QUARTER play.

I have to add my compliments to those of Bri, Rik and others - this band are f**kin fantastic !!

Their setlist plays like a list of all my favourite songs from all my fave CD's.

Who else out there is playing such fanastic songs like No more tears, Diary of a madman,

Rockbottom and many others. Not only playing these great but challenging songs but doing them note perfect

- fabulous musicians. Hats off to Mo Pickles -

brilliant frontman but also his vocals sounded better than I've ever heard them before ...... SUBLIME !

Let me add my voice to all the others in saying - get down to the Ship in Royston and support Julie

and the great bands that play there every week.

Thanks Chris, I agree with all you say, support the Ship to start with, it's a must, and

No Quarter...the musician's musicians.I must be so so biased but wow they are fantastic!

Gravedigger Bri

aye up .. report from the NO QUARTER gig last night at The Ship Royston.. absolute magic ... its a refreshing change to see a band playing different songs and played with vigour and panache .. well done guys and thanks to ROTN for bringing bands like this to our notice. The ship was rocking .. and a fair few in might I add .. with the added spinkling of local band members having a well earned night off from giging re .. Feral Circus / Metalworks Please come down and support The Ship Royston .. Thanks

Rock of the North

Thanks for this Bri, No Quarter are fantastic and I know they will have attracted the Feral and Metalworks lads. MO is Rick's hero! Lee is a great guitarist and probably the most humble in the area. Then there's Ian and Rodders, what a rhythm section! Good to see a few more in the Ship, let's hope this gig boosts the reputation of the venue.

Please excuse my French but F**K ME!!!! Could No Quarter get any better?!?!?!? One word AWESOME!!! What a great show these guys put on and a cool bunch of blokes too. I'm just gutted that I had to miss the second half booo hisss boo!!! But I'm sure that they continued to kick every single arse cheek till they were black & blue in the Ship. And yes Steve you are right Mo is my hero, the ultimate front man!!! NO QUARTER I salute you!!! KEEP ROCKING DUDES!!!!!!

I hate being biased on my site but are this band one of the ultimate rocking bands in the RotN area or not? I love this band...and everything about them. All front men should go walk their dogs down Withernsea sea front, then they might get somewhere near our hero Mo! I'd like to release a limited edition RotN T shirt with Lee on as well.

LO one & all Well i got to the keys eventually sat night but was on the late side & only managed to catch the second session of NO QUARTER . The boys did a fantastic rendition of great covers from ozzy deep purple ac/dc which had our resident Angus dominating the floor space with his own unique air guitar playing. The sound of NO QUARTER was second to none & there rendition of stair way to heaven by the all inspiring led zep was sublime & so professional I lost the number of tracks added into the number. The guys closed the night with the old classic lights out in London, then came back with another which I haven't heard in such a long time RAINBOWS track Home, this had all the locals rocking & left NO QUARTER with the honour of being the loudest band to appear @ the keys . Thanks for a great night guys hope it aint long before there back .

No Quarter....and a reverent hush descends around the room, and heads bow...were not worthy, we're not worthy.....Mav, get Wifey to get the mortar mixed, a Hall of Fame is needed, just to house these guys!

Have had a great week at various venues, seeing all sorts of Bands. However, the gang and I were at the Boot & Shoe Sunday 'T' time, to see "NO QUARTER" and "ADAM BOMB". Fantastic 'do' and entertainment value was 11 out of 10 ??? The Guv'ner at that Gaff (Boot & Shoe) ~ Les Thingy ~ can certainly book the best.

just a short note about east leeds bikers what a day true brit did there stuff and they did very well been to just about every no quarter gig since the start but last night was something special 2 1/4 hours of solid rock the lads were up for it and the1700 strong crowd were awesome really appreciated by the band im sure a special mention must go to the guys on the sound deck they got everything spot on and the sound was probably the best ive heared a big thanks to the east leeds bikers for such a brilliant event.

Hiya all at rotn I've just got to add to the comments me old mate mark of TRUEBRIT made about this weekends Easter rally, firstly thankyou to all the bands Killin' Time, Motus, Me own Band Export, Rebel Yell, Resurgence, Vamp,True Brit, and No Quarter everyone of them turned up and played there hearts out to over 1700 pissed bikers who danced the night away. The weekend raised £5000 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and was a roaring success, Mr Russ Harding if he was still with us would have been very proud ,just one last mention thanks to the guys from showtec systems who ran the PA equipment all weekend excellent sound lads deaf as a post now 26k in me lugs for three days I'm back home now after a very long rally (the wife and kids have forgotten what I look like ) but I wouldn't have missed it for the world roll on March 2008 cheers

East Leeds Lions Rally what an event I have to agree with Mark of true Brit the logistics of organising such an event must be tremendous they deserve a great big hand from us all, it ran like clockwork also the bikers many travelled many a mile to be there and also the local folk who came to see some fantastic bands I saw Motus Vamp and No Quarter they were absolutely fantastic as well as doing a bit myself with Export I missed only 2 bands the first one on Friday and True Brit. Must mention the perverts in leather they kept me amused all the three nights ... anyway roll on the next one...

Hi Windy corner, and all in ROTNorthville. I wanted to pay homage to all who we're involved in the East Leeds Lions Easter rally that's just happened this weekend. I've been lucky enough to play it twice, but it was the first time with True Brit, and it gets bigger every year. We we're not there all weekend unfortunately, due to playing elsewhere) and know i missed a treat by not seeing Resurgence, Rebel Yell and Export, and the other bands that i was told about, but my memories a shed and cannot recall there names. Graham (Export Skin Slapper)told me that every band did the event justice, and played there hind teeth off. However playing first on the Sunday, meant we could catch the second band and I've waited a long time to see em. The mighty No Quarter played the night off and rocked the event like they no how. Met Sir Rod, Mo and the others. Great down to earth folk who like what they do, and do it well. Top Draw weekend. Roll on Cas Vegas, and Jims birthday Friday week. The Mods are comin home.

Thanks for this Mark, with those bands on it must have been fantastic. Pleased to hear you liked No Quarter, they're a bit special don't you think? Graham and the club do a great job and although it's a rally for bikers, the event ranks highly in the music festivals calendar too.

border reiver

I travelled to Lancaster the other Saturday to see NO QUARTER at THE PUB china street expecting to hear a zep tribute. But as soon as they started it was clear they were much more than that giving the crowd a real treat in classic rock with songs from all the bands that ruled in that era and having a bassist that played foot keys and keyboard it gave it an even better edge to songs from rush and the zep songs which they saved until the last and finished off with a blistering encore of whole lotta rosie so check out there website on ROTN and get yourself to see em you wont be disappointed.

Last but one was a band named (No Quarter) They had to be the loudest band of the day but a crisp clear sound lead solos were spot on, this is a no nonsense band, rock is the key word with these guys, Very well done worth the journey.

My mates and I thank you for putting a great show on at the Boot & Shoe last
night (Sunday).
Thanks for the drumsticks, I'll add them to my collection.
We'll obviously be seeing you again.
Cheers...Arfur of Elmsall.

                                                 No Quarter Blow Us Away

Mo Pickles and his band , No Quarter, played the teatime session at The Crimea Tavern on Sunday to an ecstatic crowd of rock fans. I've seen this band about six times over the past 12 months and have always rated them very highly but on Sunday night they just played out of their skins prompting punters to come to me to say they were the best band ever to play there. On last night's performance, I would find it hard to disagree with them. From the first song the band just hit us all right between the eyes. The sound was being mixed by a chap called Robin and he just had it right from the beginning, and it lasted for all the two sets.Mo Pickles at 62 years young showed the young 'uns what experience was all about as he delivered a powerful and perfect set of classic rock songs. No mistakes from anyone showed what a quality band they really are. Bassist/keys player Ian did a fabulous job alongside fellow rhythm section member Big Rod, one of the best drummers in the North. Now a good rock band is nothing without a guitarist and Lee of No Quarter is in our opinion, probably the best rock guitar player in the region. I lost count of the  number of fans who said that to me on Sunday evening and even as early as Friday in another pub, someone said that same thing. He's brilliant. He's a lone guitarist and the power is unbelievable. The band did a selection of songs from AC/DC, Led Zeppelin,UFO, Ozzy, and Black Sabbath but they weren't all the "normal" ones. One highlight was Stairway to Heaven, which was so well played, and a Led Zeppelin medley which included Whole Lotta Love, Kashmir, and Rock and Roll. This band are stunning and it was little wonder they had to do two encores before the audience would let them down off the stage. What a mind blowing gig!
