Why we don't want the Euro - Key Points:

The Euro means surrendering our say on how our economy is run.

In 1990 - 92 we linked our exchange rate with Europe. It was a disaster which saw 100,000 businesses go bankrupt and unemployment double.

Taxes in the Eurozone* are one sixth higher than here. Join the Euro, and taxes WILL increase.

If we joined the Euro, we would have to cut public spending by £10 billion or face a £5 billion fine.

The majority of people in countries that adopted the Euro still think in there old currency, and in many of the countries a majority want their old currency back.

We are pleased to announce that we have won not one, but two referendums at Cheadle Hulme School. Our first victory came in a poll of all the students and staff, and then a day later parents and prospective students were polled on open morning, and they too voted to keep the pound as our national currency.

Please take a look around this site and see the many reasons to keep the pound which caused people to vote in this way.

If you see an asterik that looks like this: * anywhere on the site, click it to be taken to the definition of the previous word in our site glossary.

Referendum Results:

School-wide Referendum:

Pound: 76%   Euro 24%

Parent's Referendum:

Pound: 50%   Euro: 50%

Open Morning Referedum:

Pound: 54%   Euro: 46%

A farmer making marmalade to a traditional recipe will be sent to prison due to a bizarre EU ruling, banning anything with apricots in it from being classed as marmalade. The EU have dismissed protests that it is a regional tradition, saying that: "The law is the law." This is just one example of how the EU every day remove countries national identities with their downright stupid legislation. Don't let them remove our national identity any further. Vote NO to the Euro.
