Long Time and Back in Hollands

I know it has been a long time since I posted anything or updated my website. I have been really busy with school, and other family obligations, and given all the bunnies and kitties to care for, doesnt leave much time for updates. Things have slowed down a bit now, so I am hoping to take some pics of bunnies.

On the bunny front, after the whole feed issue, things have been good. It was a frustrating task to decide on a feed, and pull them back into condition, so after 3 switches, I have settled on Purina Advanced Show Formula. Most of them are almost back in flesh condition, there are a few there who are not quite there yet, but they have put on weight.

I havent done any breedings, since summer. I know a long break. I only had one English Angora litter, in the last 6 months, and I held on to two out of them. One is a Tort Buck, and the other is a blue tort doe. The doe might become available, so if you are interested feel free to email me. Both have really good boning, and crimp to their wool, with nice, short compact bodies. They are out of GC Chu's Bucky and Countryside's Jassmine. They were born October 19, 2008.

I know in an earlier post, I stated I would not be breeding Holland Lops anymore, but it is hard not to, when you love the breed. I had held back a couple of my favorites, (I am glad I did), and was able to bring in a few more, so breedings in all 3 breeds will be under way soon.

Thank you to all who inquired for a NND bunny, and for your patience.

  China Doll

 BlueJean

Blue Jean and China Doll are the two newest members of our NND family. Aren't they adorable??Blue Jean will be entering the show circuit soon. His breeder and me, both have high hopes for him. China Doll on the other hand has some growing up to do. But what a sweetheart. Both love to snuggle, and always want to be in the middle of all household activity.

Bunnies and Kitties

Generally, when I get pet inquiries, a lot of people tend to ask "Will my new bunny get along well with my dog or cat?" If an animal is raised in the house, being a part of our everyday life, being acquainted with other animals in the household, they usually have no trouble blending in. Mind you, it is a lot of work raising bunnies this way, but I so love spending time with my rabbits,(its a nice break from all the homework) and then getting happy emails from my adopters of how much they love their new bunny, that the time and effort spent with them makes it all worth it. Here are a few pics of some of my EA's spending time with my kitties. I hope you enjoy them.

Annabelle waiting for her slice of wheat bread, Loverboy waiting for his bowl of cream.

Loverboy and Premonitions enjoying a nap, well rather Loverboy enjoying a nap on Premonitions, while Simba looks on.

Giving a face to Simba's back there. Isn't he cute?? Reminds me of a porkchop. I will try and get better pics of him and the others over the next few days.

Jumping on the Blog Wagon

So I finally decided to take the plunge and get a blog for myself. I hope to post the going ons around here with the bunnies and cats. Quite a few changes will be taking place in the rabbitry, I will post them as things start moving around here.

One of the most important changes around here has been, I am back into English Angoras. I had quietly dispersed of my herd in Late April, when my course load increased, and I missed them tremendously. With my classes, homework, and projects, I was not able to give the time and attention they so deserved. So finally after my courses were finished I made the decision to re-add them to my herd. I am very greatful to Betty Chu, and Collin Burns for providing me with my foundation start. Collin was especially generous in letting me have Countryside's Premonitions littermate to his Youth BIS winner at the ARBA convention 2007 GC Countryside's Paris. I am hoping great things from Premonitions. I hope to post more pics of my new additions to the website soon.

The English Angoras are going to be the main breed at NND Rabbitry, followed by the American Fuzzy Lops, and Lionheads.

On a sadder note I have decided to stop breeding Holland Lops, and Netherland Dwarfs. With the recent feed issues that occurred, I lost quite a few of my bunnies, and some of them included ones that were very dear to my heart. Going out there and seeing those empty holes is very saddening to me, and my heart is not in breeding and showing the dwarf breeds anymore. Most of them have found wonderful homes, and I am hoping they have a good impact on their new owners herd.
