3GP Converter

On this page you will find details for converting videos to the Nokia 6230 and Nokia 6230i.

Please note that I have only modified some settings for Calcium's 3GP converter and all credit and copyright for the 3GP_Converter software belongs to Calcium.  You can visit his official site here.

The main benefits of this conversion method are:

Installation:

  1. Download and install Quicktime Pro 6.5.2 from here.
  2. Download and install DVD Decrypter (if you want to convert DVD's).
  3. Then download and unzip Calcium's 3GP Converter (with NiVZ settings) from here.
  4. Once UnZipped go to the folder you unzipped to and run Setup.exe, click on your phone model and click Apply.  3GP Converter will now load.

NOTE: You may also click Select to choose a default Output Directory.

How to Use:

  1. If the 3GP Converter is not already started then double click 3GP_Converter.exe
  2. Choose the setting you require from the drop down. (For most videos just choose either Normal or High Quality - for DVD's (.VOB) use the setting that matches the DVD's Aspect Ratio (see the back of your DVD))
  3. Now drag and drop the the file you wish to convert into the white area at the top of the window.
  4. The file will automatically be converted to 3GP and placed in the Output Directory.

NOTE: If you hover the mouse over the bottom half of the window while converting you can see the estimated conversion time and estimated file size.

Now copy the 3GP file to your mobile phone.

Preparing DVD for Conversion:

  1. Start DVD DeCrypter
  2. Click Tools -> Settings
  3. Click the IFO tab
  4. Change file splitting from 1GB to None
  5. Click OK
  6. Click Mode -> IFO Mode
  7. Click Stream Processing tab
  8. Click to tick the Enable Stream Processing box
  9. Right click in the Stream Processing box and choose Select None
  10. Now put a tick in the Video box (usually 0xE0) and the English Audio box (usually 0x80 or 0x82 - use 6 channel if available)
  11. Now click the DVD -> Hard Disk icon
  12. The DVD files will now be transferred to your hard disk, this may take a while.  Click OK when finished and then close DVD DeCrypter.

You can now drag the .VOB file from DVD DeCrypter's output directory onto the 3GP Converter.
