Nita's Nook

"Pure & undefiled religion in the sight of our GOD ... is this: Visit the orphans & widows in their distress and to keep onself unstained .... "

Who is Nita of Nita's Nook?

Welcome to Nita’s Little Nook on the web. Let me introduce myself. I am a mother of two grown sons, a grandmother of four and a homemaker with three years of Bible College that were classes on Bible Books or classes pertaining to the Bible. Since then I have taken classes by Correspondence on Ancient Israel and have certificates from several Beth Moore studies and a few others.  I think it is easy to say I am a woman with a heart & a passion for the Word of God and it's author. I also have another passion and it is for a small portion of the world. My hope is to share this passion and that it may also become your passion as well.

That place where I am referring is in East Africa. I wish to make this available to you, make it easy for you to view photos of the needs and conditions there as well as present it in a easy format to read, So please welcome to my little nook on the web for a cause that is of great concern to Christ as well as myself.

Let me introduce you to Pastor Sylvester and his wife Sister Pauline Okidi of Eldoret, Kenya in East Africa. I first met this couple thru a friend from Scotland. He was doing a ministry of travel and preaching for a time and they met. In 2001 my husband under went tongue cancer and when I wrote my friend Richard in Scotland and asked him to pray --- he wrote back that he had sent the prayer request on to friends in Kenya. And he said "When they pray they call out the big guns!"

After my husband had his surgery & went thru the radiation etc....I sent out periodic email to my friends who were praying to tell them of his progress. (My husband never smoked by the way and was in a small 2% of non smokers who do get this dreadful disease. He has had five years of being cancer free. It is now completely gone, praise the Lord, for His grace is sufficient.)

In looking over Richard's mail I noticed a letterhead for the minister in Kenya with an email address and I decided to write him to let him know of my husband's progress. We wrote a few times back and forth telling me of who he is and what he does and we have become friends ever since even though we have never met face to face. We are eternally grateful for the prayers of the precious saints in that nation at a time when we needed them most.

They have been faithful in ministry to Kenya and now 7 other East African nations, to bring the word of God to these places at a great sacrifice to themselves. They live very modestly in the same modest home for 30 years. They are also parents of a daughter and a son and the proud grandparents of four. He drives a 1976 Schwin bicycle wherever he goes in town. His doctor has told him he can not use his bike anymore but he needs to use a motorcycle due to his arthritis. They have had no running water in all the time I have known them and just recently got electricity in the church building. Sylvester is pictured in the page called Kenya Ministry Photos. Sister Pauline teaches the woman's ministries, the children ministries and is pictured there too.

Pastor Sylvester is in the town named Eldoret and he is over about 30 ministers in seven East African nations. I will also introduce you to each of these ministers in these nations.

Burundi is Consolata Manirakiza

Rwanda is John Baptiste with an orphanage at Gisenyi District with Pastor Bizimana Innocent.

Uganda is John Wandera with an orphanage in Bungiri District, Nicholas Masaba & his brother Pastor Peter Waneloba

Tanzania is William Chetema

DR Congo is Andrew Munyaluhame at Goma town. This place has many orphans and is mostly hit with war and volcano explosions.

Sudan at Kakuma is a new work with refugees & orphans the contact minister there is: elijaharok@yahoo.com

Kenya is Mathew Opiyo, Stephen Odunga, Samson Mogere, David Ekati, Robert Barasa, Joshua Wabwire, Reuben Barasa, Petre Karani, Joram Amuyunzu, James Wanjala, Cornelius Wanyonyi, David Chetema, Morris Okechi, Fauetine Ogolla, and Jacquece Niyonzima at Baringo, David Tuva at Kilifi Mombasa.

In those seven nations are even more tribes represented that gather together on regular basis, 3 times a year, to worship the Lord as well as work together to fulfill the “great commission” as best they can on very low to non existent wages.

Pastor Sylvester has told me many times of the "troubles" in this area. They are internal wars, HIV/AIDS infection, unstable political situations, and much corruption. He also says: "We are here and we wonder how it is that we can help and solve the problems. Our prayer is that God will show us His mercy and intervene with what is happening here."

Together in unity they hold special meetings to bless and encourage the brethren, ministries to the ministers, hold water baptism with immersion as the Bible clearly says, and preach and teach the word of truth according the the Bible, to the best of their abilities.

I am told this is nothing less than a miracle to bring these seven nations with the variety of tribes, together. I have known this man and his work as I mentioned for over 8 years now in 2009. I believe God has called him to a particular work, at a particular time, such as this. The work load is a heavy one with out the modern conveniences we take for granted. We need ones such as you to join in with us and offer a helping hand. I hope this website will inform you of all the needs and ways you can help.

Please understand we are not asking for leaders to come and change this existing work. We are asking for those who are looking for a good, honest, legitimate ministry where your hard earned money will go directly to the need without any corporation overhead, greed or corruption.

It is a ministry where souls are ministered to and they are given the opportunity to make Jesus the Lord of their life. They have opportunity to learn Biblical principals including & beyond salvation. They will find a church family and a support system where this is hard to find. They will be given a message of "the gospel of peace" together with a “future and a hope” that the Lord has for them in what is often a hopeless situation.

By clicking on the various pages you will be able to see and read of the ministry and the needs that you may be able to help fulfill. It is my prayer that many will see this and want to join in with us to help.

“Many hands make the work light.”

It is a fee for the printing, postage, grading and the $8 or $9 award Student Bible in their own language, awarded upon completion.  You can name the country that you wish to sponsor a student. All the students are in poverty or are refugees in Kakuma,Sudan, Countries for these lessons are: Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi, Kenya, DR Congo, Sudan & Uganda.

Helpless Victims:

I am not sure if you are aware of the tremendous need to care for innocent victims. These victims are helpless and without the care of these individuals that God has called to minister to them they would be without all hope.  These innocent victims are called orphans. And the reason they are orphans is each child is without parents, due to loosing them to HIV/AIDS. AIDS is rampant in Africa killing 100's each day.

An additional problem in this area is the poverty prevalent due to the joblessness. Many are with out hope but in a hopeless situation this ministry is trying to minister and bring hope and light to ones who are suffering greatly.

Currently there are orphan schools in this ministry in Kenya, the DR Congo, Uganda, and Rwanda. Soon there will be places set up in the nations of Burundi, Tanzania and by the power of God in the Sudan area. I will keep this site posted on any changes. Just click on the photo pages for the country you wish to view. I am not able to put all the photos I would like at this site but I have photos of Uganda, DR Congo, Rwanda and Kenya.

The school in Eldoret, Kenya has over 225 children to care for with more children added each day & there are another 24 young children currently in the care of the minister in Uganda. Rwanda orphans number at 60 at the present time. The DR Congo church at Goma has about 40 children in thier care. So we have about 350 orphans in these three nations. And the newest nation of Sudan has innumerable numbers in need of a church, ministers so they can have an orphanage.

Bibles:

Another need in these impoverished nations is for the Word of God to be made available to the people. A Bible costs them far above what they have to pay for one. Many love the Lord and are called into His service yet do not own His love letters to them as individuals.

Languages for Bibles:

Swahili: National language

Tanzania, Kenya, DR Congo & Uganda

Kinyarwanda National language:

Burundi, Rwanda
