Peter lives in Lepton, a village on the edge of Huddersfield. He has worked as a journalist in UK, the United States and Kenya, was chief reporter of the Evening Chronicle, Newcastle, news editor of the Huddersfield Daily Examiner and news editor of the Daily Nation, Nairobi.

For a short time he was The Guardian's East Africa correspondent, and has also taught journalism at Nairobi Univesity, and for Thomson Newspapers in UK.

He now edits the web magazine, www.openwriting.com, a feast of words from regular columnists, U3A writers and other authors. Every day there is something new to read.
