Techniques

Introduction

Jutsu, or skills/techniques, are the mystical arts a ninja will utilize in battle. To use a jutsu, the ninja will need to use his chakra. Chakra comes from two places. (1) the body energy inherent in your trillions of cells and (2) the mental & spiritual energy gained from exercise and experience.

To perform a jutsu, the ninja will bring out and releasing these two energies. By forming handseals, the ninja is able manifest the desired jutsu. Because of the extensive number of hand seals and different combinations, there are thousands of potential jutsu to be discovered.

If you want to use any techniques from the series which isn't on the list, just post in the OOC. Give us the name of the technique; a brief description; what episode/chapter it is in. We are no longer accepting anime only or game jutsus. If you wish to have one you must treat it as if it were a custom jutsu.

If you wish to create your own jutsu you must PM it to a mod to get it approved before learning it. Another benefit of creating your own jutsu is that when you train for it, it will count as a storyline. You will also be the only person who knows it unless you personally teach it to someone else. If you wish to learn a member's custom jutsu, you must seek them out IC and ask them to teach you, but there is no guarantee that they will. If your jutsu ends up having a specific elemental specialty, anyone else with that same specialty class will be able to learn it without needing to see you.

Elements

Based on which jutsu the ninja uses, the type and amount of chakra will be different as would the elements you would be to employ. The five main elemental styles are also the five names for the Five Great Shinobi Countries: Fire, Wind, Lightning, Earth and Water. Each ninja has the potential to better utilize one of these styles and potentially more. A special elemental detecting paper is used to determine ones type. The paper comes from trees which are specially grown with chakra. When the ninja imbues the paper with a portion of their chakra, the paper will alter to reveal one's type. The paper will rip in two for Wind, burn for Fire, become wet for Water, fall apart for Earth and crumple for Lightning. For example Kakashi is a predisposed Lightning type, while Sasuke is both Lightning and Fire for the Uchiha clan specialty.

The five elements themselves form a cyclical strong and weak relationship against each other. The element of Fire is stronger than Wind, as the usage of Wind merely increases the strength of Fire. So if a Fire jutsu came up against an equal strength Wind jutsu, the Fire jutsu is more likely to win out. Wind in turn is stronger than Lightning. Lightning is stronger than Earth and Earth in stronger than Water. Water finishes the cycle by naturally winning out over Fire.

Katon - Fire

Katon, or Fire Element, takes the form of fire and flame attacks. These can be fire balls or extended flame throwing.

Fuuton - Wind

Fuuton, or Wind Element, takes the form of wind based attacks. These can be huge gusts or sustained wind storms.

Raiton - Lightning

Raiton, or Lightning Element takes the form of electrical and lightning based attacks.

Doton - Earth

Doton, or Earth Element, takes the form of earth and mud based attacks. These can be walls made from mud or the ninja maneuvering himself below ground to attack his opponent from below.

Suiton - Water

Suiton, or Water Element, takes the form of water based attacks. These can be walls of water used as shields or water formed into large striking jets.

Mokuton - Wood

Mokuton, or Wood Element, is an obscure element that takes the form of wood attacks and defenses. The usage of this elemental style is a hidden technique unique to Shodaime Hokage and others who possess his same exact genes. Mokuton is formed through the simultaneous usage of Water and Earth styles. These jutsus can only be used by those in the Senju (Shodaime Hokage) Clan.

Hyouton - Ice

Hyouton, or Ice Element, is an obscure element that takes the form of Ice attacks and defenses. The usage of this elemental style has been seen by Haku and ninja from Hidden Snow, however the manga has stated this ability was unique to Haku's bloodline. Hyouton is formed through the simultaneous usage of Water and Wind styles. These jutsus can only be used by those in the Haku's Clan.

Jutsu Rankings

Level 1

Level 1 jutsu are the general skills every ninja learns at the Ninja Academy. The students are expected to know these skills before graduating to Genin. They require 150 Chakra Control and drain 300 AP.

Level 2

Level 2 jutsu are Genin-level techniques. These skills will make up most of a Genin's arsenal. They require 325 Chakra Control and drain 500 AP.

Level 3

Level 3 jutsu are Chuunin-level techniques. Some Genin will have one to two skills at this level, serving as their "trump cards" to pass the Chuunin Exams. They require 800 Chakra Control and drain 750 AP.

Level 4

Level 4 jutsu are Jounin-level techniques. Chuunin and Special Jounin are able to utilize most jutsu at this level. They require 1000 Chakra Control and drain 1000 AP.

Level 5

Level 5 jutsu are Jounin-level and higher techniques. Some Jounin will develop their own unique jutsu from this level to serve as their "trump card" but these are mainly known to Kage-level ninja. They require 1500 Chakra Control and drain 1250 AP.

S-Rank

S-Rank jutsu are the generally secret techniques known only to one ninja. They can only be learned by Geniuses. They require 3000 Chakra Control and drain 2500 AP.

S-Rank 2

S-Rank 2 jutsu are the generally secret techniques known only to one ninja. They can only be learned by Super Geniuses. They require 4000 Chakra Control and drain 3750 AP.

Forbidden

Forbidden jutsu are jutsu that are secret and not allowed to be taught either because it is self-damaging or it requires corpses. You must be Sennin rank to learn Forbidden jutsu.

*The only jutsus restricted to rank are Forbidden Jutsu.

**When you have 500 chakra control, you can automatically use the tree climbing technique. When you have 650, you can automatically use the water walking technique.

In Depth

Stamina

Stamina is drained whenever a technique is used by a ninja, and whenever a ninja takes a hit. It requires a bit of basic calculation, but hopefully people can simply RP things properly and not have to worry about the technicalities. To begin, there are three different types of ways to drain stamina by using a jutsu; bunshin, short-term, and long-term.

Bunshin
A bunshin ninjutsu uses up the amount of stamina needed per clone made.

Short-Term
A short term ninjutsu uses up the amount of stamina for the one post that you use it in (ex. Katon: Goukakyuu no Jutsu, Kenkaze, Henge no Jutsu).

Long-Term
A long term ninjutsu, and all genjutsu, drains the amount of stamina per post that it lasts (ex. Makyou no Ran, Meisai Gakure no Jutsu, Shikakyu no Jutsu).

Stamina is also drained like HP. When you get hit with a jutsu of any kind, you lose stamina. You lose as much stamina as the jutsu took. Although if you were to lose less than or equal to 0 stamina, you just leave it as no effect. Examples are:

Ninjutsu
A ninja with 2000 CC uses Suiton: Suiryuudan on an opponent with no defense. The defending ninja loses 2000 stamina.

Taijutsu
A ninja with 2000 Strength uses Houshou on an opponent with no defense. The defending ninja loses 2000 stamina.

Genjutsu
A ninja with 2000 CC uses Jibaku Satsu on an opponent with no defense. The defending ninja loses 2000 stamina per post that he or she is user the illusion.

However, no ninja has absolutely no defense (except in the case of genjutsu). Things such as armour, Strength used to defend against either a ninjutsu or taijutsu physically, and Chakra Control to defend using a ninjutsu. Here's where some calculations may come into play. The defending force subtracted from the attacking force is how much damage has been taken. Examples are:

Armour
The defending ninja has metal plated armour with a defense of 1500. He is attacked by a fire jutsu with a force of 2000. The defending ninja loses 500 stamina.

Strength
The defending ninja has a strength of 1500. He is hit with a Houshou with a force of 2000. The defending ninja loses 500 stamina.

Chakra Control
The defending ninja has a chakra control of 1500. He creates an earth barrier that is hit by a Suiton jutsu with a force of 1000. The barrier doesn't break. However, if the attacker's Chakra Control was 2000, it would have broken through.

Strength

Strength VS Strength

If your strength is higher than your opponent's:
1. You will deal physical damage to them.
2. You will be able to defend physically against them.

If your strength is lower than your opponent's:
1. They will be able to defend against your attacks physically.
2. They will be able to deal physical damage to you.

Strength VS Chakra Control

If your strength is higher than your opponent&rsquos CC:
1. You break through a ninjutsu barrier physically.
2. You can defend against a ninjutsu attack physically.

If your strength is lower than your opponent&rsquos CC:
1. They will be able to attack you with a ninjutsu without you being able to defend physically.
2. They will be able to defend against a physical attack from you by using a ninjutsu.

Speed

Speed VS Speed

If your speed is higher than your opponent's:
1. You will be able to attack them physically faster than they can dodge physically.
2. You will be able to dodge their physical, non-weapon attacks.

If your speed is lower than your opponent's:
1. They will be able to dodge your attacks physically.
2. They will be able to attack you physically before you can dodge them physically.

Speed VS Chakra Control

If your speed is higher than your opponent&rsquos CC:
1. You will be able to attack them physically before they can make a barrier using a ninjutsu.
2. You will be able to dodge their ninjutsu attack physically.

If your speed is lower than your opponent&rsquos CC:
1. They will be able to attack you with a ninjutsu before you can dodge physically.
2. They will be able to defend against you by using a ninjutsu before you have the chance to attack them physically.

Accuracy

Accuracy is one of the more difficult stats to define. It isn't "how well" something hits, it's "if" something hits. It is used in long-ranged ninjutsus and throwing weapons against Speed.

If the defender&rsquos speed is higher than the attacker's accuracy, they can dodge because the attacker did not have the accuracy to aim properly.

Throwing weapons also take into account, the attacker's strength. In the case of throwing, the attacker's strength becomes the weapon's speed. For long ranged ninjutsus Chakra Control is the speed, as always.

If the defender's speed is higher than the attacker's strength, they can dodge because the attacker's throw was too weak to cover enough distance.

Chakra Control

Chakra Control VS Chakra Control:

If your CC is higher than your opponent's:
1. Your ninjutsu and genjutsu will be able to deal damage to them if they defend with a ninjutsu or genjutsu.
2. You will be able to defend against them using a ninjutsu or genjutsu, if they attack you with a ninjutsu you a genjutsu.

If your CC is lower than your opponent's:
1. Their ninjutsu and genjutsu will be able to deal damage to you if you defend with a ninjutsu or genjutsu.
2. They will be able to defend against your ninjutsu or genjutsu if they use a ninjutsu or genjutsu.
