What is NILE TV International?
NILE TV International is the first Arab satellite channel to broadcast its programs in foreign languages namely English, French and Hebrew.
The first broadcast of NILE TV International began during the October Celebrations in 1993. The broadcast continued for 2 hours a day & then was increased to 4 hours a day after the official inauguration of the channel on the 31st of October 1994. Then the broadcast hours were increased to 8 hours. Since November 2002, the broadcast hours have been increased to 19 hours a day from 7a.m. till 2a.m.
NILE TV International is the second Egyptian satellite channel, that was launched after Egyptian Satellite Channel 1 or ESC1.
NILE TV International is broadcast on 4 satellites, and therefore, its transmission reaches the whole Arab world, the Middle East, North Africa, Europe & the USA. Moreover, it is also broadcast as a terrestrial channel on a UHF frequency & this enables Egyptian viewers and foreign residents in Egypt to watch its programs along with the other Egyptian TV channels.

The goals of the channel
NILE TV International sheds light on Egyptian & Arab cultural, tourist, economic & artistic issues with strong emphasis on news which is given first priority. It also plays a very important role at the informative, cultural, artistic, economic & tourist levels because it reflects the national Egyptian & Arab opinions, positions & aspirations. It expresses them freely through establishing objective dialogue with others. The dialogue is based on logic & insight, it takes place in the sight of the modern media which embraces all the political, cultural, economic & artistic aspects of globalization because our world has become a single global village.
Therefore, the aims of NILE TV International are:
- Addressing foreign viewers in Egypt & all over the world with regard to culture, economy, tourism & art and initiating a constructive dialogue between different cultures in foreign languages.
- Presenting the views of the Egyptian government & people on various issues cocerning the Arab region & the Middle East, and global issues as well. Those views are presented in bulletins and news & political programs to introduce the true Arab & Egyptian viewpoints & positions to European & American viewers and to all English-speaking & French-speaking people. This way we prevent the biased & unbalanced views which harm Egyptian & Arab interests from becoming the only available option for foreign viewers.
- Reflecting the image of modern Egypt & all the concrete achievements, national projects in the fields of education, women's rights, health care & the establishment of a democratic atmosphere which boosts freedom of speech & allows difference of opinion. All this is presented according to new, modern thought which is reflected in a variety of reports, news peograms, talk shows & forums.
- Broadcasting news events from Egypt & the Arab world, spotlighting those events and analyzing & discussing them with officials , politicians, analysts and cultured Egyptians, Arabs & foreigners in foreign languages.
- Presenting the Egyptian & Arab views on international events, analyzing and discussing those events to help foreign viewers understand the truth about the Egypian & Arab stances on the current international events in order to protect foreign viewers from falling prey to biased media.
- Presenting the true images of Egypt and Muslims & Christian Arabs to refute all allegations and stress the unity of the Egyptian nation.
- Reflecting the true image of Islam with all its great values, humanitarian concepts & tolerance in order to face all the attempts of distorting the real image of Islam.
- Planning to broadcast in other languages such as Spanish & German to achieve the highest viewing rates in European & Latin American countries in order to convey the message of the channel in the best possible way.
News service & Programs
NILE TV International tries to achieve those goals by presenting a bulletin every hour in English, French or Hebrew. Bulletins include reports on the latest events & through analysis of those events. The channel also pursues those goals by presenting a number of daily & weekly programs which can be categorized as what follows in the next pages.
