Nikki's Ethics
I would like to start by saying there are many different opinions regarding ethics when it comes to breeding , as I can only speak for myself & what I believe in.
My purpose of writing this is not to make myself look better, nor to look down on anyone. It is to let you know my ethics.
1) I am not a traditional sphynx cattery in terms of having breeding stock, my sphynx are more than pets~ they are adored members of my family. My children have free roam of our home, and so do my sphynx's.
I have a TICA registered cattery name for the pure purpose of showing & pedigree only.
I am NOT in the breeding business for survival. I have beautiful pets with great pedigrees who happen to have litters from time to time.
~ I work with my cats ~ 4 the betterment of this breed that I love soo much & 2 bring out the quality's that I like in my sphynx.........................
I have a career & am a Full time Student.
Working with the sphynx is a love & passion that I have, and am blessed enough to live out.
2) I strongly believe in regular routine vet trips I am a student R.N, and I truly believe in preventive health care. I have been researching in depth about the HCM disease that some sphynx cats appear to be genetically prone to, my research comes from various sources, breeders, my vets, and medical professors that I have ...this is the reason I decided to HCM test my cats in the very near future. I stand behind my kittens, and my cats 100%.
3) All sphynx kittens, are adopted only after a screening process~The screening process, is so that I know for sure if the kitten will be going to the right home, and to make sure that you, the buyer will have the right kitten, after all, you and this kitten will have many ~ many years together.
4) When one of my sphynx kittens are to be placed in their new home, they will be neutered, or spayed before leaving my home, which ~ by the way is when they are 12-16 weeks old.
5) I have a good working knowledge about the sphynx breed
I have 1 Mentor and many advisors, in whom I thank with much appreciation till this day.
6) If you are a new breeder, and I can help in anyway please contact me.
7) May you have a wonderful experience adopting your treasured baby~
research, ask many questions, make sure you are getting a healthy kitten, dont ignore your gut feeling, make sure theres a contract that protects you, the seller & the kitten, and be willing to wait 4 that purrfect baby.
This is a link to TICA, @ the bottom of the page is their viewpoint of what a reputable breeder is, I agree with TICA's viewpoint it confirms & parallels with my own beliefs and I, myself follow it when I am adopting a sphynx kitten. Check it out~ remember to scroll all the way to the bottom~ it is listed under reputable breeder brochure~
Thank you for taking the time to read this, I love my cats, and just want the very best for them, and their kittens. If you want a cat & it really, really doesn't matter what the breed is ~ please consider adopting a rescue kitty, there are so many wonderful, lovable ones even purebreds ~ out there that truly need a good home . If you would like more info on a local animal shelter please email me thanks ~~Nikki~~
