INSTRUCTOR BIOS

Leslie Altman works primarily in water-based media, collage, assemblage, jewelry design, and clay. She's a contributing artist and writer for Somerset Studio Magazine, Belle Armoire, Salon, and Gallery publications. With a BFA. in design, her experiences as an art director, corporate gallery artist, and crafter energize her students to explore their "creative passions". Finding alternative uses for existing materials and "found objects" fuels her creativity for innovative collage and jewelry. Leslie's style and techniques in class, enable her students to create unique, one-of-a kind designs for altered books, journals, jewelry, and paper arts. She has her own line of Rubber Stamps. This is her first year with An Altered Jubilee. Leslie is from Deerfield, IL.

Brenda Ambrosino delights in the creation of altered images. Whether she’s working on canvas or board, on single images or books, she strives to bring a sense of mystery and psychological complexity to her work. She has a great love for ephemera of all eras, and seeks out unusual objects and surfaces to incorporate into her work. The tactile complexity of layered images intrigues her, leading to the creation of images she describes as "the different sides of my soul on display." Early experimentation with art rubber stamps and collage led to her interest in the emerging art and craft of altered books. Brenda teaches classes to share the skills and techniques she has collected with other interested artists. She has been published in RubberStampMadness, Legacy, Artitude, and many times in Somerset Studio and the Gallery. This is her third year with An Altered Jubilee. Brenda is from Palm Harbor, FL.

Kimberley Barnhardt is a mixed-media artist and instructor with an ongoing love affair with the creative process. Her work is a revelation of color, rediscovered flotsam and provocative minutia. Her professional credits include a career in design and education for the theatre, and this is where her current work thrives: at the intersection of the visual and the written word. She has a passion for the journey of creating, and has developed her website of artist's materials and inspiration to cater to others with this same love. This is her first teaching year with An Altered Jubilee, she was a vendor last year. Kimberley is from Smyrna, GA. www.twigsofhope.com

Ernie Hendrix says creating "handmade things of beauty" has always been a part of her life. And it has taken many forms - photography, painting, rubber stamping, bookmaking, beading and polymer clay. As a child, one of her biggest thrills was getting a new box of crayons, that big 64-crayon box, and a coloring book. Ernie's special areas of interest are bookmaking and jewelry. She gets a thrill out of seeing students faces when they realize that they have really, truly made a beautiful handmade book. Ernie has been published in Somerset Studio and Legacy. This is her first year with An Altered Jubilee. Ernie is from Douglasville, GA.
