I first started DJ’ing out of boredom when I used to go to the school disco at my school. All my mates would be kissing and cuddling the girls and I was always that bloke in the corner on his own. One night at a school disco I asked the DJ if he could show me around the disco equipment and he said that was ok. The DJ showed me all about playing one Record (now I am old) after the other and spent 20 minutes on that and then said to me you try it (he was gutted when I cued up and mixed my first mix in 30 seconds.. So from there I got two record players and an old 2 channel Tandy mixer and practiced in my bedroom and on the 17th March 1987 I did my First Public Gig alone after several attempts along side the resident school DJ My Dad bought me a set of twin turntables for my birthday in 87 and the Legend was born In 1988 I was asked to cover for the resident DJ at the Glen Helen Pub for 2 weeks, 2 years later in 1990 after a successful run I left there so much for temping (lol) Later in 1990 I was found Covering DJ’s holidays in Casey’s Café Bar Now Strand 58. From there I went mobile with full sound and light system and called my disco Sunset Sounds until 2000 when we became Nightfever Disco and still to this day I have a mirror that I was given with the Sunset Sounds Logo on it and I will keep that forever .
