Nigerian Dwarf Goats and More....

The Nigerian Saga.......

Hello!  My name is Stephen Gurney and I live on a small farm in Payne, Ohio.  Over the past several years, I have had the great pleasure of owning many different types of unique animals.  I have enjoyed all the animals I have owned but nothing has interested more than Nigerian Dwarf Goats.  They are wonderful creatures with great personalities, beautiful looks and spectacular spirits.

Two years ago, a friend of mine told me about these wonderful little darlings and made arrangements for me to get a pair; I have been hooked ever since.  I started with a cream colored, blue eyed doe, named Buttercup, and a tiny black and white buckling, named Spook.  In April of 2007, I purchased a beautiful buckskin tri-color buckling, named Zeus, at the NDGA national show.  I had the opportunity to bottle feed this little guy which means he is spoiled rotten.  In June, Buttercup kidded a beautiful tri-color buckling, named Picasso.  I was hoping for 2 blue eyed does so I could breed them to Zeus but I was very happy with Picasso.

If you are at all curious or interested in goats, I would definitely do more research on this wonderful breed.  A good starting point is the Nigerian Dwarf Goat Association (NDGA).  I used this site many times for care sheets, breeders and members information.  I soon became a member after getting Buttercup and Spook.  If you have any thoughts, questions, concerns or issues feel free to contact me at samgurney@verizon.net .
