Adverse Attractions~The 1ST Official 1/5 Shrine~Designed by FFX2player

New layout! Bless everyone who came to my site these past few months, you guys got me 200 HITS! *waves 1/5 flag* A new layout, links, and fanfiction is your reward! A little more proof as well. THANKS Cerulean Shadow for all your help! BTW, the wallpaper was designed by me, but the pic is PDA by C-Puff. Go see the full version on her website, it rocks! Again, I would luv any thing you want to submit for this shrine. There's also a guest book now, please sign. And I'm always glad to recieve any all your e-mails.

Hey! FFX2player has been wandering the net lately trying to find a 1/5 site. Sadly, no such thing is to be found on the wide plains of the Web. There are plenty of 3/4 sites, so why don't we get any 1/5? Don't Nigel and Abby deserve a shrine as much as Kuki and Wally?! So, I decided to make a shrine dedicated to 1/5.

Now, before I go on, take note all who support Numbah 1 or Numbah 5 with anyone else. You MAY be insulted by this shrine and its designer. You may try to argue with this designer, or convert her to your side. May I simply warn you this designer is a FIRM 1/5 shipper since the premire of I.C.E.S.C.R.E.A.M. where she got a 1/5 inspiration watching them stand next to each other at the beginning of the episode. She STANDS FIRM. PERIOD.

There, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it;). This is, to my knowledge, the first site dedicated to 1/5. If someone out there can prove they had one first, I will gladly take down my honor as 1st, but till then, I count my self as such. I will have profiles, proof, fanart, screengrabs, other couples supported by me, and links eventually. I appreciate all help in this area. You can e-mail mewith these.

Sign the Guestbook PLEASE!!!

Numbah 1

image taken from Teh Moonbase(www.ediblehears.net/knd/)

Name:Nigel Uno

Age:10

Nationality:British

Family:Mom and Dad

Notes:Numbah 1 is the only child of Mrs.(heard in C.A.N.O.N.)and Mr. Uno(Seen in O.M.M.P.A.H., E.N.D., L.O.V.E., and S.N.O.W.I.N.G.). He is the leader of Sector V. Numbah 1 is always wearing a red shirt, shorts, boots, and a pair of black sunglasses. He is bald, the reason for which was given in F.O.U.N.T.A.I.N. It seems that Numbah 1 was once captured by the Delightfuls who made him bald. Intrestingly enough, Numbah 5 says she didn't go to save him. It seems Numbah's 1 and 5 were partners at one time. Numbah 1 is serious, a perfectionist, and a workaholic. He's a stratagist and an excellent fighter. The latter can be seen in B.U.T.T. Nigel seems to be almost cold at times, but a softer side can be seen. In D.A.T.E., for example(much as I dislike Lizzie)which also brings out another trait of Numbah 1's. He's parinoid, with a capital "P". Not that I would trust the Delightfuls either... You can also see a soft side in his concern for Numbah 4 when he almost falls off the ship in F.A.S.T.F.O.O.D. Speaking of Numbah 4, 1 is friends with both 2 and 4.

Defense for Lizzie:Lizzie is his girlfriend, however, any good 1/5 fan and just about anyone else agrees that this girl is obnoxious, even in the new season. If we're strictly cannon, it's 1/Lizzie, 3/4, and 2/Cree(though the last is one-sided).

Numbah 5

image taken from The Code Module.(http://photobucket.com/albums/v494/codemodule/)

Name:Abigail "Abby" Lincoln

Age:10

Nationality:French

Family:Dad,Mom,Older Sister Cree(Thanks Cerulean Shadow for the tip on 5's mom

Notes: We have seen Mr. Lincoln in H.O.S.P.I.T.I.A.L. and H.O.U.N.D. Mrs. Lincoln(who IS French)appears in C.H.O.C.L.A.T.E. Numbah 5 has black hair she always wears in a braid, a beloved pink hat which she got from Cree, wears a blue shirt, shorts, and earrings. She has an unusal habit of talking in third person. Numbah 5 is the second-in-command and spy of Sector V. Her skills as a spy are amazing, just look at the start of L.I.C.E. She is also has the greatest stamina of the group if you've seen C.H.A.D or K.I.S.S. Numbah 5 is cool, collected, and laid back. She loves candy as seen in both P.I.R.A.T.E. and J.E.W.E.L.S She worries about her friends, especially Numbah 1 in Q.U.I.E.T. She once admired her big sis. before Cree turned evil as seen in M.A.U.R.I.C.E.

Be Somebody

Hey everybody. I’m back with yet another song-fic so read and enjoy. Also, I need you to answer a quick little question at the end of the story. So, as an end to this author’s note, I’ll leave you with this quote:

Summary: Just like the song, it’s a story of growing up and parental guidance. No specific characters mentioned, so you can use which ever one you want, with any heterosexual pairings.

Disclaimer: I don’t own either the KND or “Be Somebody” by 3 Doors Down. All I own is this computer so don’t sue me if you can help it.

The shades gone up Mothers staring down She don't know where he's been Or how long he's been out

It was a little after dawn when a young man quietly opened the door of the darkened house and went to the refrigerator when a voice said “Good morning”

The teen turned and faced the voice guiltily.

“Sorry Mom. I lost track of the time and fell asleep. It won’t happen again, I promise.”

She said 'Boy I'm tired of waiting up While you’re out with your friends' He said 'Mom I’m trying and I’m living My life the best way that I can'

After a long sigh, the mother said “I’m tired of waiting every night for you to come back safe and sound after going out with those friends of yours.”

“And I’m always fine when I come home, aren’t I? Mom, I’m just fine; I get good grades and stay outta trouble, so why can’t I have a little fun every now and then? I’m trying my best and I’m trying to be someone important, just like Dad was; I just need you to trust me a little more, okay?”

Cause I'm trying to be somebody I'm not trying to be somebody else This life is mine I'm living Don't you know me? I won’t ever let you down

20 years later

It seemed like just yesterday when he graduated, and just a few hours ago that he was married and had two children. They weren’t kidding when they said ‘life comes at you fast’.

Now her son had grown up and was leaving her for what could be the last time. He had been called into service and was departing tomorrow. She would have come to see him off, but her body wasn’t cooperating with her wishes, so he had to say his goodbyes here, in this cold hard place they called a hospital.

The day has come The son is moving on She don't know where he'll go Or when he's coming home

”I want you to stay safe out there Son. Don’t get yourself killed; you’ve got a family to live for back here.”

“I’ll be careful, I promise. I’m gonna make you proud Mom, I swear I will.”

A nurse peeked her head around the door and told them visiting hours were over.

“Mom, I have to go; I’ll see you around Christmas time. I love you Mom, I couldn’t have had a better parent than you.” Tears started to trickle down both of their faces. As the son got up to leave, he kissed the old women who had raised him on the forehead one last time and turned to leave.

“I love you too son. Just remember what I told you and take care.”

As the man left, the women whispered one last sentiment to her only child.

“I’m already proud, don’t you see?”

She said 'Son take care, Don't let your dreams get too far out of sight' He said 'I love you now, Don't worry about me you know I'll be fine'

Cause I'm trying to be somebody I'm not trying to be somebody else This life is mine I'm living Don't you know me? I wont ever let you down No I'm not trying to be somebody else Don't you know me? I wont ever let you I wont ever let you

Dream Sequence

There was gunfire exploding all around them. Distant artillery boomed on the horizon. ‘Where am I? What am I doing here? The old women wondered until she spotted someone familiar to her. ‘Why is my son here? Could it be this isn’t just a dream, but what’s actually happening?’

What they say What they know What they think wont ever bring me down This life is mine and I am my own

Suddenly, a commanding voice shouted the charge and the remaining soldiers ran towards their enemies while screaming the battle cry only men who know their death is soon scream. She saw many of the brave men; only boys really, get cut down and to her horror, saw a bullet rip through her own boy’s shoulder. She screamed aloud as he went down, trampled from the press of the soldiers behind them.

What they say What they know What they think wont ever bring me down This life is mine and I am my own

One Day Later

She was over at her daughter-in-law’s house when it happened. The doorbell rang and her son’s wife opened the door. The mother heard a loud thunk and quickly raced around the corner to see a man in dark formal attire comforting the grieving woman on the floor. Knowing immediately that her horrible dream had come true, the mother opened the letter the soldier had dropped and read it as tears poured down her face.

I'm trying to be somebody I'm not trying to be somebody else This life is mine I lead Don't you know me?

“Excuse me young man. Did you ever get the chance to know my son?”

“I did. He was my platoon leader and one of the best you could ever find. Before we went into the last battle, he told me that if something happened to him, I should be the one to tell his family. He also wanted me to give you each these letters” Tears had begun to flow from his eyes as well.

I'm trying to be somebody I'm not trying to be somebody else This life is mine I’m living Don't you know me? I won’t ever let you down Noooooooo

“Thank you for getting these to us. Is there a chance you would tell me your name?”

“Roderick. Private Tobias Roderick Ma’am. It was the last thing I could do for an old friend. I guess I should leave you to your grief; truly I offer my condolences to you and your family.”

As the man left, the mother closed the door and helped the newly widowed woman into the living room and gathered her grandchildren close to her. Being as young as they were, they had no idea what had just happened. To answer their questions, all she could say was that their Daddy was in a much better place and that he would always watch over them. Amid the tears that followed, the suddenly aged grandmother stared at the picture above the fireplace that showed his smiling face, a face that they would never see again.

I'm not trying to be somebody else Don't you know me? I won’t ever let you down I wont be nobody else This life is mine and I am my own

That was depressing. It’s an awesome song and it feels good to write something after having a writer’s block for so long. Anyways, onto that question I was going to ask all you readers out there. Here it goes: Who would you rather have Cree (Numbuh 5’s sis) be paired with?

Hoagie Chad Other (OCs, etc.)

Thanks in advance for a) actually reading the story and b) answering the question. Adios all you people out there, and remember, Go Bucks! Michigan Sucks!

Collide

I’m back after a major writer’s block. Bet you thought you got rid of me, didn’t you? Well you thought wrong! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Whoa…okay, I’m okay.

Summary: Just a good ol’ 1 and 5 one-shot filled with tons and tons of FLUFF! If you’re a 2/5 fan, please don’t read or insult this fic. I don’t do it to you.

Disclaimer: Bucksfan- doesn’t own either the KND, the TND, or Howie Day’s song “Collide”. Those are owned by much richer and wiser people than Bucksfan-.

Dawn’s morning light was just shining through the thick foliage of the TND tree house when one of the leaders stirred. As he cleared his muddled mind of sleep, he looked to his side where he had felt something warm and soft snuggled against him. Nigel smiled at his still sleeping best friend/ girlfriend, Abby. The young couple had decided that because it was a warm summer night, to sleep out in a hammock that had been hung twixt two strong, thick branches about midway into the gigantic tree’s foliage. The friends had talked late into the night about many thing, from old times to what had given their team and them the luck and honor of being one of the first Teens Next Door sectors.

The dawn is breaking A light shining through You're barely waking And I'm tangled up in you Yeah

Nigel was brought out of his thoughts as Abby stirred from her sleep and slowly blinked the sleep out of her eyes. She looked up at her boyfriend’s smiling face and gave him a gentle kiss on the cheek before burrowing deeper into the worn hammock the two shared.

“Hey. How’d you sleep last night?” she asked him quietly. “Good. You?” “That was probably the best sleep of Abby’s life.” “Glad you thought so.” Nigel chuckled as he pulled her closer. “So what were you pondering so early this mornin’?” “I was just thinking about the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

I'm open, you're closed Where I follow, you'll go I worry I won't see your face Light up again

Abby smiled up at him expectantly as he drew his face closer to hers and uttered one word.

“You.”

He kissed her softly and then hugged her to his chest.

They both closed their eyes and relaxed in the relative safety and comfort of each other’s company. Abby could feel the warm morning sunlight softly beat down on her as she too thought of the most important thing in her life. Even though she and Nigel could be as different as night and day in some ways, in others, they were like two peas in a pod. For example, they both were introverts who didn’t like crowds. That was how they had become friends in the first place and how their friendship had remained true even after all years.

Even the best fall down sometimes Even the wrong words seem to rhyme Out of the doubt that fills my mind I somehow find You and I collide

Even when Lizzie had come into the picture, friends had stuck together. Nothing could tear them apart; they were Nigel and Abby. They always had been and always would be and everybody knew it. What was it Nigel’s mother had said about them oh so many years ago? Oh, yes, that they were inseparable. How true.

I'm quiet you know You make a first impression I've found I'm scared to know I'm always on your mind

“Hey.” “Hmmmm?” “It’s almost time to get up and make breakfast.” “Five more minutes Mommy” “Very funny Abigail Lincoln, very funny.” “Abby knows. She just don’t wanna get up.” “Five more minutes then. I don’t want to get up either.”

Even the best fall down sometimes Even the stars refuse to shine Out of the back you fall in time I somehow find You and I collide

As the young leaders fell into a compainiable silence once again, Abby asked her oldest friend a question that had been bothering her for a while.

“Nigel?” “What?” “What will happen when high school’s ova?”

After a short silence, Nigel answered.

“I just don’t know Abby, I just don’t know. What I do know is this; no matter what happens after school’s over, we’ll still be together. I’ll love you ‘til the end of time, no matter how far apart we may be. Just live each day without a thought of that future; don’t worry about something that won’t happen for a while yet.”

Don’t stop here I lost my place I’m close behind

“Thanks.” She said, knowing that no eloquent words could thank him enough for soothing her fears. What he had said made sense and she would take his advice to heart and not worry about things yet to come.

“Anything for you, my dear friend.”

Even the best fall down sometimes Even the wrong words seem to rhyme Out of the doubt that fills your mind You finally find You and I collide

“It’s probably about time to head inside and get breakfast going. What do you think?” “Probably. Let’s go.”

The teens slowly climbed out of the hammock and made their way down through the branches, swinging and jumping in a dance that, to the casual bystander, would look like two wild creatures knowing each other well enough to predict the other’s moves. It was strangely captifying; their easy-going banter and comradeship was unlike any other. Finally, the young operatives arrived at their destination, resuming their rightful place as leader and second-in-command. Soon, the smell of bacon and eggs filled the air.

You finally find You and I collide You finally find You and I collide

Dare you to Move

Welcome to another fic. Well, I have two fics in progress right now, I’m just stuck. I need any humorous situations that could happen at school (pg 13 at most please). Anyway, let’s get this fic started.

Disclaimer: I don’t own KND or “Dare You to Move” by Switchfoot. All I own is 2/3 of this computer.

Authors Note: This isn’t a rip-off of Codename: ROSE by Dreamboat, just so you know.

Welcome to the planet Welcome to existence Everyone’s here Everyone’s here

‘What the heck happened?’ thought Abby Lincoln as she groggily opened her eyes. She currently had the biggest headache of her young life and was trying to figure out where she was when she heard a familiar voice.

“She’s waking up now!”

“Yeah…Abby, how are you feeling?”

“Ugghh” the dark girl moaned as she sat up in what she now knew was a. She addressed the speaker, who was a young man about her age and wore a pilot’s cap and was slightly chubby. Next to him were a blond Aussie and a raven-haired Japanese girl.

“What happened? Where the heck am I? Guys, what’s going on?” Her friends looked uneasily at each other before the Japanese girl, known as Numbah 3, answered her best friend’s questions.

“Everybody’s watching you now Everybody waits for you now What happens next? What happens next?

I dare you to move I dare you to move I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor Like today never happened Like today never happened before

“Do you remember that super important mission that you and Numbah 1 went on?” Seeing the dark skinned girl nod, 3 continued her tale.

“Well, you saw the DCFDTL and gave chase. Unfortunately, it was a trap. You were almost captured and Numbah 1 had to abandon the whole the whole mission to rescue you. The Delightfuls escaped with their incredibly deadly weapon that 1 and you were assigned to destroy. Numbah 1 brought you back and you’ve been here ever since. Oh, by the way, Numbahs 362 and 86 want to speak with you ASAP.” .

“I guess I’d better go then” Her friends looked at her one last time. Wally and Hoagie even had traces of disappointment on their faces, while Kuki’s face had something akin to pity, and they left.

As the door shut, Numbah 5 prepared herself for the meeting that would undoubtedly lead to her decommissioning. It was not often an ordinary operative like herself met with the top people and wasn’t decommissioned. Then, a thought struck her. Would Numbah 1 be there? If so, what would he say? Was he disappointed? Or was he angry for screwing up such an important mission? Shaking such thoughts from her head, 5 exited her safe haven and ventured into the hallway.

Welcome to the fallout Welcome to resistance The tension is here

As she entered the main hallway, she received many evil glares from other operatives. Numbah 5 shouldn’t have been surprised, but the glares sent chills up and down her spine. Though she had never been the most popular agent, she had never felt so hated. Though inside she was quaking with fear, she stood tall and made her way to Numbah 362’s office.

Between who you are And who you could be Between how it is And how it should be

“Finally, the sleeping screw-up has awoken” said a heavily Irish accented voice.

“Quiet, Numbah 86” said an older, more mature voice. Three figures stepped out of the shadows to reveal Numbah 86, a fiery red-head in charge of decommissioning; Numbah 362, the blond leader of the Kids Next Door; and Nigel Uno, the bald British leader of Sector V and also Numbah 5’s boss.

“Hello, Operative Numbah 5 of Sector V. I assume you know what this meeting is about” Said 362. 5 nodded before 362 continued.

“Because of your reckless actions, the Delightful’s weapon was not destroyed. Do you understand the consequences of your actions and accept full responsibility?”

“Yes, I do”

“Normally, the only acceptable punishment is immediate decommissioning, (at this, Numbah 5’s stomach plummeted) but…your leader pleaded on your behalf and I have decided not to have you decommissioned. Numbah 1 has offered to watch you during your probation, and once a month you must be evaluated. This will continue until I no longer see fit. Now, if you’ll excuse us, 86 and I have to go.” Both operatives did the KND salute and left.

I dare you to move I dare you to move I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor Like today never happened Like today never happened before

Abby watched the two heads (their heads were attached to the bodies, you idiots, I mean heads of the organization!) leave and turned to face Numbah 1. He had not spoken a word the entire meeting, and still said nothing. ‘What if he hates me? He doesn’t hate me, he pleaded on my behalf. But what if he was just trying to keep the tram together?’ An unmistakably British voice interrupted her thoughts.

“Congratulations, Numbah 5”

“What for? I screwed up the mission and am on probation until 362 say otherwise. I’m sorry, it’s all my fault you had to abort the mission and then grovel at 86’s feet. I’m surprised you don’t hate me. I should just leave the KND now and do everyone a favor.” As the dark-skinned girl said this, tears rolled down her cheeks.

Numbah 1 was shocked to hear such a pessimistic speech from her. She actually thought she’d be doing everyone a favor by leaving! SHE THOUGHT HE HATED HER! He had to show her how wrong she was before she did something drastic!

“Numbah 5, I could never hate you. Never ever, no matter what!” Nigel said as he took her into his arms.

Maybe redemption has stories to tell Maybe forgiveness is right were you fell Where can you run to escape from yourself? Where you gonna go? Where you gonna go? Salvation is here

It felt so right to her, being in his arms, he made her feel like she belonged. Lastly, she felt safe from anyone and anything and because of that, ready to take on the world. The embrace seemed to last forever, until she finally broke the silence.

“Why?”

“Why what?” asked Nigel

“Why did you beg them to keep me in the KND?”

After quiet deliberation, 1 answered “If you had left, I would have lost it. When you’re with me, I feel complete, like I finally found the missing piece in my life. Without you, I’m a mere empty shell. Do you understand?”

After seeing a shake of 5’s head, he said, in almost a whisper, “then let me make it clear”.

His lips met hers with an astonishing ease and once she was over the shock, Abby kissed back with more love than she thought she ever had. When they finally broke apart, they leaned into each other’s warm embrace. Numbah 5 suddenly said, “I’m still not sure what you mean. Do you think you could help clear it up one more time?”

Both brave warriors laughed softly before Nigel said “I love you, Abby Lincoln.” We all know that Abby then replied back, “I love you to, Nigel Uno.” The new couple remains in the lover’s embrace and in their minds; they know that from now on, they will never be alone and that everything will be okay as long as they have each other.

I dare you to move I dare you to move I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor Like today never happened Today never happened Today never happened Today never happened before

It’s about time I finished another fic. I would greatly appreciate it if you helped with my humor story mentioned above. See you next time I write a story.

Special thanx, by the way, to goldenflither. You so totally rock dude!

Adios, and remember, go bucks!

We’ll Make It Through

Hey ya’ll! How ya doing’. I think it’s about time I wrote another fic. I’ll try to make this a bit longer. This will once again, be a 1/5 fic with a bit of ¾. If you need a visual aid, go to bizzaro’s site and checkout the group picture. By the way, I’ll be using their real names in this story, just in case you get confused. Let the fic begin!

Summary: When Abby’s mom is diagnosed with cancer, how will Abby deal?

Disclaimer: I don’t own Codename: KND; all I own is 2/3 of this computer.

It was a bright, sunny day in a small town near Columbus, Ohio. Suddenly the sound of a phone ringing came from the giant tree house that towered over the neighborhood. It was answered by a young African-American woman of about fifteen years. Her name was Abby Lincoln and was no different than any girl her age except she belonged to a secret organization that defended the world’s teen’s against evil adults. She wore a blue t-shirt with white stripes on the shoulders and gray kapris. Her long, dark, hair was worn in a braid with a red hat a top her head. Her four friends were sitting on the couch watching T.V.

“Hello? This is Abby Lincoln how can I help you?” said the girl. As she listened, her face grew paler and she nodded her head several times. A few minutes later, she hung up the phone. One of her friends called to her from the living room. Abby walked in and sat down.

“Who was that?” asked a boy about her age who was wearing a red pullover, dark gray shorts, and a pair of shades. He was a bald British boy named Nigel Uno and was Abby’s best friend. He noticed the look on her face and immediately went to her.

“Abby, what’s wrong?”

The other teens in the room turned their heads towards them. The only other girl in the room was wearing a baggy green sweater and black workout pants. She had long raven hair and was a Japanese girl named Kuki Sanban. The young man next to her was wearing an orange hoodie and blue jeans. He was an Aussie named Wallabee Beatles (Wally) and had blond hair that covered his eyes. The last teen in the room was slightly muscular boy wearing a light blue t-shirt and tan cargo pants. He had light brown hair sticking up from underneath his pilot’s cap and was known as Hoagie P. Gilligan Jr. or Hoagie for short.

“It was my dad.” Abby replied shakily. “He said…he said that… my mom’s been diagnosed with cancer. They don’t think that she has long to live so I ‘m going to go see her tomorrow.”

“Oh my God Abby. I’m so sorry.” Nigel said as he pulled her into his arms. Her tears started to spill onto his shirt. Kuki, Hoagie, and Wally came over and hugged her.

They stayed like that for what seemed like hours. Finally, Abby left, saying she needed to be alone for a while. Nigel and the others sat and talked for a bit about what they were going to do and then it was decided that someone should go check on her. Nigel eagerly volunteered and then left for the elevator that would take him to Abby’s room. As the elevator plummeted downward, he thought about his best friend. He felt so bad for her; she had so much to deal with; her evil sister, Cree, her abusive and alcoholic father who beat her until she was practically unrecognizable. Plus all of the regular stuff all freshman deal with. Yet she was always cool and collected. She always had a ready ear and shared anyone’s burden, even if only for a little bit. She was always there for him when he needed her. When he had broken up with Lizzie, she had comforted him and got him back on track. When Hoagie’s father was in a car crash, she was with him every step of the way. Now she needed his help and he would be there. He owed her at least that.

With that final thought, Nigel exited the elevator and was about to knock on her door when he heard her sobs. His heart broke at the sound of the gut-wrenching cries. He quickly opened the door and held her in his arms. Abby clung to him like if she didn’t, something terrible would happen. He whispered any words of comfort he could think of, but to no avail. After awhile, Abby’s tears slowed to a trickle.

“Thanks” she said softly.

“It’s ok. I’ll always be here for you if you need to talk or even cry.”

“You’re such a great friend to Abby”

“No problem. You’re always there for me. That’s what friends are for, right?”

“So…what are ya doing in Abby’s room?”

“I came to check on you. Everybody needs a friend when their down.” There was a long silence.

“It’s just so sudden. Mom was going to the doctor because we thought she just had a bad case of the flu. To find out that its cancer, it’s unimaginable.”

Tears were growing in her honey colored eyes. Nigel looked into them and saw many things that weren’t usually there. Pain, confusion, and sadness were among them. He hugged her again and whispered the four words that Abby needed to hear most at that moment. ”I’ll always be here”. She cried herself to sleep that night in Nigel’s arms. True to his word, when she woke up the next morning, there he was.

……….………….

The next morning, Abby woke wondering if yesterday had just been a dream. She had felt so warm and safe in his arms, as if he’d protect her from anything. Even though she had secretly enjoyed that feeling, she fiercely hoped it had been a dream. Her mom couldn’t have cancer. That only happened to other people, far away from her. As her sleep-muddled mind slowly woke, she sadly realized it hadn’t been a dream. That realization slowly brought another. She had fallen asleep in Nigel’s comforting arms. Abby finally noticed the gently, yet firm grip that was holding her in place on the soft cushion that was Nigel’s upper body. She looked up at his sleeping face and smiled. ‘He looks so cute and peaceful when he’s asleep. This was probably the most restful she’d seen him at since they joined the KND together all those years ago. She snuggled closer to his chest before drifting off to sleep again.

Later that morning, Abby was getting ready to visit her mom. She was deep in thought when Nigel walked up behind her a placed a hand on her shoulder.

“Do you want me to go with you?” he asked quietly.

“That’d be nice” she said, giving him a sad smile.

The two teens were picked up about half an hour later by Abby’s older sister Cree. Cree’s eyes, usually filled with hate and malice, were full of sadness and she burst into tears as soon as she saw her little sister. The siblings hugged together sharing their sorrow with each other for a moment. Then they all got into the car and left the giant tree house far behind.

It was a long, silent ride, with Abby and Cree sniffling every so often. The entire ride, Nigel had a comforting arm wrapped around Abby’s slim shoulders. When they arrived, the young adults sat motionless, for a minute, steeling themselves for the ordeal ahead. Cree then led the way to the receptionist’s desk and got Mrs. Lincoln’s room number. Cree then said to the pair

“You go first. You haven’t seen her yet. She’ll want to see you two together.”

With that, she gave the teens a gentle push towards the room and watched them walk down the hall. ’I hope this brings those two together. It’s pretty obvious they like each other.’

As the friends reached the door, Abby hesitated.

“Abby don’t think she can do this, Nigel.” she said.

“Sure you can. If not for yourself, do it for her. Imagine what she’s going through and think how much your presence could help her. You’ve got to do it Abby. I know you can.”

With the encouragement from her secret crush, Abby slowly turned the knob and walked into the room. Inside, there was a middle-aged African-American lying in a hospital bed with what seemed like a hundred wires and tubes sticking out of her.

“Mom!” Abby cried as she rushed to her mother’s side.

“Abby” the woman said happily. She peered around her daughter at the young man behind her.

“Nigel Uno” she smiled knowingly.

“How have you been? Being a good boy around my daughter I hope.”

Nigel blushed. ”Of course, Mrs. Lincoln. How are you feeling?”

“Fine, but there is one thing you two could do to make me feel better.”

As Mrs. Lincoln grabbed a hold of both of their hands and joined them together, she said something both adolescents would never forget.

“Life is short. You should live it to the fullest and not hide behind barriers you’ve built around yourself. Express all of your emotions, especially love. Love is the one thing we all need in our lives. Don’t be so afraid of rejection that you end up forever regretting that you never told them that you love them.”

The silence was broken by Nigel placing a hand on Abby’s shoulder and turned her to face him. He looked deep into her eyes and then, gathering up his courage, said to her “Abby, I love you. I love you so much it hurts and my love for you grows each day. I love your every move, every hair on your head, every word spoken from your sweet lips and I always will. I just wanted you to know, before it’s too late.” She looked into his cerulean eyes and said “I love you too. I just never had the courage to say it.” Their faces grew closer until finally their lips met.

It was the best thing either of them had experienced. Shivers went up their spines at the other’s touch. Abby’s arms somehow found their way around Nigel’s neck as his found their ways around her waist. He pulled her closer and deepened the kiss. Finally, the young adults broke apart and leaned into each other’s embrace.

As the scene fads out, we see the young couple embracing and the tired woman smile contentedly at what she had brought out.

……………………………………….

It had been two weeks since Nigel and Abby had gotten together. Two weeks since they’d first seen Mrs. Lincoln. They had been to see her everyday since then. Everyday living life to the fullest. When they had returned to the tree house hours later, the others had not been surprised to find out that their leaders were officially a couple. They all apparently knew that they both liked each other and that if anyone would get them together, it would be Mrs. Lincoln. The new couple had been spending a lot more time together lately. All had been going well since then. The doctors said that her chances of living through this had greatly increased. Cree and Abby had been getting along better than usual. Everything was going perfect…until that fateful day.

It was once again a bright and sunny day in the KND neighborhood when the phone once again rang in the tree house. Abby answered the phone rather cheerfully. She had heard just yesterday that her mom may be able to come back home in a few weeks. The voice in the receiver sounded sad and when she introduced herself, sighed heavily.

“You’re mother has just passed away. I’m so very sorry for your loss. Is there anything we can do for you?”

“No, thank you for your concern. Goodbye.”

“You’ll be in my prayers. God bless you.”

Abby hung up the phone as Nigel walked into the room. He saw the look on his love’s face and how she was resting her hand on the phone.

“She’s gone” Abby said as she collapsed. Nigel caught her in his arms and held her as tears rocked her body. He carried her to her room and stayed with her all night.

……………………………………………..

A few days later, a large crowd was gathered at the funeral of Sarah Lincoln. In that crowd, there were two girls, crying silently until it was their turn to go and speak of their dead mother. First, went Cree.

“My mother was the best person I’ve ever met. She still loved me, even after all the horrible things I’d done. After which, even I didn’t love myself. Yet she still was there for me. She was the most selfless person any of us will ever meet. She gave, even though we had nothing to give. She was like everyone’s mom, always there with a smile and a hug. Always giving rides when someone needed them. Even when she was sick, she helped out two of my best friends (as she said this, she looked at Nigel and Abby). She touched many lives and will continue to do so even when she’s gone. Thank you.”

Next up was Abby. “My mother was so many things, among them was wise. She taught us all lessons no school could teach us. What and what not to do on your first date, when to keep your mouth shut, and most importantly, to live life to the fullest. She told me, and I quote ‘Life is short. You should live it to the fullest and not hide behind barriers you’ve built around yourself. Express all of your emotions, especially love. Love is the one thing we all need in our lives. Don’t be so afraid of rejection that you end forever regretting that you never told them that you loved them.’ With that advice, I’ve truly found happiness. We should all take that advice and use it to further our lives.”

Countless other people went up and spoke about Mrs. Lincoln. All the while, Nigel held Abby tightly to help stop her tears for at least a little while. When it was time to lower the coffin into the ground, Abby hugged her lover to her as if he was her last lifeline. Tears were shed as the ceremony finally ended and the mourners left the family alone to say their final goodbyes.

That night, the KND operatives and their families gathered to remember Sarah Lincoln. The party lasted late into the night, with many toasts in her memory. It was about two in the morning when Nigel carried Abby off to her bed. She had insisted on helping clean up and had collapsed in an exhausted heap on the couch when they were done. He tucked her in and sat on her bed. She was about half awake and smiled at him.

“Thanks” she said to him sleepily.

“For what?”

“Being there just like you promised. Without you, I don’t think I would have made it through this. Thanks.”

He smiled. She looked so beautiful, lying there.

“Sweet dreams” he said as he kissed her on the forehead. He got up and left the room silently, taking one last look and thinking how lucky he was to have such a wonderful person in his life.

Epilogue

It was a bright summer day at the local high school where a special event was being held. Almost the entire town was gathered there. Some of you out there may be wondering what event had gathered so many people together. This event was called Relay for Life and it raised money for the American Cancer Society. It took place over an 18 hr. period and during that time, teams walked around the track trying to get as many miles as possible. They also sold different items such as stuffed animals, baked goods, and martigra beads to the public. Each team had their own tent under which had whatever they were selling and whatever the team would need for the night.

“Another mile down, 618 left to go” said the blond Aussie who had just entered the tent. The teen had just completed his tenth mile. It was about 8:30 p.m. and the relay would last until 1:00 p.m. the next day. Our favorite group of adolescents was gathered under their tent, either resting for their next mile or selling their TND hats to the public. As Abby got up for her next mile, a voice behind her asked “Would you mind if I joined you?” Shaking her head, she smiled and replied “Come on Nigel. We still got a long way to go.” At the beginning of the relay, their team had decided to try and make 1,000 miles. The couple set off around the track at a medium pace. As they walked, the teens talked.

“This was a great idea Abby” said Nigel.

“Yeah”

“How are you doing?”

At this question, the young woman reflected back to earlier that day.

Flashback

“Now, to start our event, we will have all cancer survivors take a lap.”

The crowd gathered watched as the solemn survivors walked a lap.

“Now, we would like all the caretakers of any cancer patients take a lap.”

By now, everyone on their team was crying. Cree, Abby, Nigel, and Mr. Lincoln all got up and took a lap. Nigel had his arm around Abby and together walked a lap. They could see Wally and Kuki walking together, holding hands in a comforting way. They to shed tears for Mrs. Lincoln. After the opening ceremonies, the fun started. The band played some popular songs and teams began selling their goods. One team, Jeneen’s friends was doing very well. They had always been one of the best teams there. This year, they were selling plastic snakes and sheriff badges. They had a western theme going on and there were a lot of people gathered around the tent. The teens walked past it to the tent next door. The relay had begun.

Flashback Over

“Pretty good I guess. This just brings back memories. I’ll be fine.”

Nigel smiled at her. “That’s good.” As they continued on, they saw a girl who was about 13 walk slowly around the track. She was about 5’5, had goldenish blonde hair, and wore glasses. She had a sad, yet thoughtful look on her face. The couple looked at each other and then asked her what was the matter. The conversation went as follows:

“What’s the matter, kid?”

“Huh? Oh, I’m just thinking about my aunt and uncle. My Aunt Jeneen died of cancer when I was real little. I don’t even really remember her now. My Uncle Park has osteoporosis now and it’s kind of scary.”

“We’re so sorry. I lost my mom a couple months ago.”

“What are your names? I’m Gini.”

“I’m Abby and this is Nigel. You said that your aunt’s name was Jeneen, right? You must be with Jeneen’s Friends.”

“Yeah. My mom is the team captain. What team are you on?”

“We’re part of the TND”

The conversation continued as the teens continued to find out more about each other. Then, two more teens came up to Gini and said “Hey, Aunt Jill is going home for a little bit, did you want to go with her?”

“Nah. Hey, Park, Jackie, these are my new friends, Nigel and Abby. Nigel, Abby, these are my cousins, Park and Jackie.”

After introductions were made, Park asked Gini “Have you found Dad’s or Jeneen’s yet?”

“Nope. You have any luck?”

“What are you guys talking about?” Abby asked confused.

“See those paper bags with candles in them? They are luminaries and they represent the people you know who had or have cancer. You buy one and tell them who it’s for. They write that person’s name on the bag and then place the bags around the track. We bought some for my dad and Gini’s aunt.” Jackie explained.

“We bought one of those for my mom. Look, there they all are!”

Sure enough, there were all three luminaries right next to each other. The group of teens stopped and watched the small monuments for their loved ones. Their thoughts were on good memories as they silently began walking again. Nigel thought ‘All these people are gathered here for a common purpose. To raise money for something that may save others from their sorrow and pain they’ve gone through. It’s amazing.’ He looked at the cousins and thought ‘they’ve had to go through so much pain. There is more to come as well. But they’re so optimistic about the future. They are truly amazing people.’ Abby looked up at him, curious to know what he was thinking. His answer was a smile that told her he was ok and he’d tell her later. The small group walked on through the night.

Relay for Life is an actual event that raises money for cancer research and I encourage you to participate in one in your own town. If there isn’t one, you should start one yourself. Even if you don’t know anyone with cancer, the money you raise could help prevent you or your loved ones from getting it later. To find more on this event, go to the American Cancer Society home page and under More Ways to help, click on Relay for Life. For all the people who know those with cancer, I pray for you and hope that you make it through. I myself lost my aunt, Jeneen, to cancer and now my uncle has it to. My family participates in Relay for Life and our team is Jeneen’s Friends. Good luck and God have mercy on you. Remember Go Bucks! Michigan Sucks!

Adios!

When You Say Nothing at All

Hey.

I decided to get one more fic out before Xmas. What really sucks is that we have the shortest winter break in Ohio. Break starts on Thurs. So here we go before I get to busy.

Summary: Number 5’s thoughts on her best friend and more recently, boy-friend.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Kids Next Door or “When you say Nothing at All” by Ronan Keating. Maybe for Christmas though…

It was a cold, December evening outside the KND tree house. The occupants were nestled deep under blankets in the living room (the room where they watch TV) on various couches. Numbahs 3 and 4 were on a fluffy blue couch with 3 leaning against 4’s shoulder. Numbah 2 was by himself in an armchair half asleep and Numbahs 1 and 5 were on the other couch. He was lying on one end with her head on his chest. The exhausted group had just finished decorating their enormous home for Santa’s coming. In fact, there was a 10 ft. evergreen with all kinds of ornaments, home-made and store bought alike, adorning it’s magnificent branches. It had taken several hours to pick out, chop down, bring home, and decorate the behemoth.

Now, the operatives were taking a well-deserved rest. Each lost in their own, private thoughts. Let’s take a peek at the second-in-command’s, shall we?

Numbah 5 was almost dozing contentedly on the chest of her lifelong friend and more recently, boyfriend. Nigel and she had gotten together last week at the KND Christmas dance.

Flashback

They had had a great time until it was announced that the last song of the dance would be played. Numbah 5 sighed internally when she had not gotten to dance with Numbah 1 at all. That had been her goal of the evening. Suddenly she felt a hand on her shoulder and turned to find a beat-red Numbah 1.

“Would you care to dance?” he asked, holding out his hand to her. Her smile brightened as she took his hand and said, “I would love to”

As they walked to the dance floor, music softly began to play. He placed his arms around her waist as she put hers around his neck and rested her head against his shoulder. They swayed gently back and forth as the music played, all the while thinking about how the song was like their relationship.

It’s amazing How you can speak Right to my heart Without saying a word, You can light up the dark. Try as I may, I could never explain What I hear when You don’t say a thing

People had always said they had an ESP brain meld going on between the 2 of them. Before joining the KND, they had been able to finish each other’s sentences. Even now, they almost always knew what the other was thinking. It was a second nature, almost natural to them and no one could take away the special bond they had with each other. When one was feeling blue, the other would comfort them in their own way. Whether it be by a few comforting words, or a conversation at four in the morning, they always knew what the other needed. When Numbah 1 needed a kick in the butt or when Numbah 5 needed to join the group more, they were there to provide it.

The smile on your face Lets me know That you need me There’s a truth In your eyes Saying you’ll never leave me The touch of your hand says You’ll catch me Whenever I fall You say it best When say nothing at all

When Lizzie had broken up with him, Numbah 1 had stayed in his room for days. He hadn’t come out at all; not even to eat. The entire time, the only person he had let in was Numbah 5. She had comforted him in his time of need by just being there and listening. Not saying a word, just listening. The only time she had left his side was to get food for them. She had never said a word about the state their leader was in to the other occupants of the tree house. When he finally came out, he was once again the strong, quick-minded leader they all remembered. During that time, the bond between the leader and his second had grown tremendously.

All day long I can hear people Talking out loud But when you hold me near You drown out the crowd The crowd Try as they may They can never define What’s been said Between your Heart and mine

They always said that Nigel Uno and Abigail Lincoln would get together one day. Even when they were toddlers running around causing trouble throughout the neighborhood. Heck, there was even a secret pot running between the leaders of the earth-bound sectors how long it would take for them to get together. Of course the best friends denied that there was anything going on between them.

The smile on your face Lets me know That you need me There’s a truth In your eyes Saying you’ll never leave me The touch of your hand says You’ll catch me Whenever I fall You say it best When say nothing at all The smile on your face Lets me know That you need me There’s a truth In your eyes Saying you’ll never leave me The touch of your hand says You’ll catch me Whenever I fall You say it best When say nothing at all

The adolescents continued swaying to music, content to be in each other’s safe embrace, if only for a short time. Abby inhaled deeply the scent of her secret crush as she listened to his heart beat steadily. Suddenly, she heard his strongly accented voice whisper something to her in soft tones.

“Hey, Numbah 5?”

“Yeah?”

“What would you do if I kissed you now?”

As she looked up into his eyes, she could see the truth in them. He really meant it! His lips gently touched hers in a soft, gentle kiss. As they broke away, he pulled her into a tight embrace. As the song continued, they gazed into each other’s eyes.

(You say it best when you say nothing at all you say it best when you say nothing at all)

The smile on your face the truth in your eyes the touch of your hand Let's me know that you need me

Numbah 5 looked up at her long time friend and asked him a question that had been bothering her.

“Hey, Nigel? Does this mean…?” “Only if you want it to.” She looked up at him in wonder. She could see that his heart was truly in her hands now. Abby pushed up on his shoulders and planted a kiss on his unexpecting face.

Once it ended, Numbah 1 took a breath and said “I guess I can take that as a yes.” They both chuckled for a moment and then settled back into the position they had been in before, slowly dancing as the song came to a close.

The smile on your face Lets me know That you need me There’s a truth In your eyes Saying you’ll never leave me The touch of your hand says You’ll catch me Whenever I fall You say it best When say nothing at all

(You say it best when you say nothing at all you say it best when you say nothing at all)

The smile on your face The truth in your eyes The touch of your hand Let's me know That you need me

(You say it best When you say Nothing at all You say it best When you say Nothing at all)

As the song finished, they kept dancing, lost in their own world, not caring who saw them. Finally, they were brought back to reality by Numbah 2 tapping on Nigel’s shoulder. He was grinning like a Cheshire cat

“Come on guys, it’s time to go.” He said, mercifully leaving his teasing until they got back to their home. Almost everyone had left. Those who hadn’t were also grinning like crazy killing clowns. (Try saying that ten times fast!)

The new couple blushed and walked over to their waiting friends.

End Flashback

Numbah 5 was roused from her thoughts by her living pillow softly calling her name. She looked up at him with a questioning look in her eye.

“What where you thinking about?” Nigel asked. “Not much really. Just about the dance last week.”

He smiled down at her, quietly reliving the memory in his head.

“That sure was fun, wasn’t it?”

“Yeah, and I got a great prize…”

“Hmmmmm?”

“You.” She said simply before snuggling back into her original position. Nigel stared at her before placing a gentle kiss into her hair and laying his head back into the cushions. The couple joined their friends in a peaceful slumber, all awaiting the coming of the new day, not afraid of anything as long as they had each other.

So, how’d ya’ll like it? Personally, I hated it. But whatever. Remember, Go Bucks! We’re in the Alamo Bowl this year against Oklahoma, I think…

Happy Christmaunakwanzaka to all!

Undiscovered

By: Cerulean Shadow

Song Sung By: Ashlee Simpson _______________________________________________________________________________

He couldn't find her in the Treehouse. She was nowhere in sight. Nigel didn't see her this morning. Neither did Hoagie, Kuki, or Wally. When he went to check her room, it was completely clean. But she wasn't in there neither. But, without anyone looking, he went inside. He liked her room. But not as much as he liked her. Then, he spotted her bed. Softly, he laid on it. The soft warmth comforted him when he thought about... Abby. Take it back, take it all back now The things I gave Like the taste of my kiss on your lips I miss that now

He couldn't figure out where she was. Maybe she was outside, or at her house. He was getting quite worried. Then, he heard a sound. He looked out of her window and saw Abby, down by the lake, skipping some rocks. Finally, he took a sigh of relief. But he thought that she needed to be alone. He wanted to talk to her, ask her what was wrong. But something was troubling her. Something he didn't know. What could it be? He had to find out. So he pushed the button on his boots, then lasers came out. With a sudden concern, Nigel flew out to the lake.

I can't try any harder than I do All the reasons I gave, excuses I made for you I'm broken in two

Abby kept skipping rocks down by the lake. She looked depressed. For some reason, she felt empty inside. She didn't know why, but it made her feel so dark. Dark inside like there's no way to escape. It scared her to think about it. With her final rock tossed in the water, she sat down and sighed. Right behind her, she heard a sound. She turned her head and saw Nigel flying towards her.

"Nigel?" she asked. "Hey, Abby." Nigel said as he lowered to the ground.

His lasers were put out. Then, he sat right beside her. Only... a little too close.

All the things left undiscovered Leave me empty and left to wonder I need you All the things left undiscovered Leave me waiting and left to wonder I need you Yeah I need you Don't walk away

He kept on staring at her, smiling. But Abby just stared at the lake. Nigel looked deeply into her eyes. He had no idea of what she was thinking. But he still continued to stare. When he looked at her, he felt like he just wanted to hold her close and never let go. He then noticed that both her hands were touching the soft Earth. Slowly, he moved his right hand across the smooth grass... and touched her black hand. Abby quickly looked at him. Then at the hand. She didn't pull away, she didn't say no...

She just smiled.

Touch me now, how I wanna feel something so real Please remind me, my love And take me back Cause I'm so in love with what we were I'm not breathing, I'm suffocating without you Until you feel it too

"... Are you feeling okay?" Abby asked as that smile faded away. "Um... sure. Yeah. I-I do..." Nigel said. "... Why did you come here?" "Uh... well... I just wanted to ask you if you were okay. I was getting kinda worried, so I thought-" "No, no, I'm fine. It's just that... that... nevermind."

"What? What is it? Is... is there something wrong?" Nigel asked.

All the things left undiscovered Leave me waiting and left to wonder I need you All the things left undiscovered Leave me empty and left to wonder I need you Yeah I need you

"... Nigel? You're my best friend. You know I would never leave you, right?" Abby asked. "Yes, of course." Nigel replied. "... Good. 'Cause... oh, Nigel... I... I think I'm feeling something empty. Like there's something missing. As if it was... was..." "Was who? Tell me."

Abby looked closely into Nigel's eyes. She didn't want to say it. She was afraid it would break his heart. But she wrapped her hand around his hand before she replied,

"... You."

When I'm in the dark and all alone Dreamin' that you'll walk right through my door It's then I know my heart is whole There's a million reasons why I cry Hold my covers tight and close my eyes Cause I don't wanna be alone

Nigel stared at her. How could she think that? Nigel has been there for her ever since she came into the Kids Next Door! But he knew that she didn't really mean it. He thought that he would force himself to get up, and just leave her. But instead, he grabbed her... and hugged her. So tight, that Abby couldn't break out. But Abby didn't even think about breaking free. She kept relaxing in his warm arms, being comforted by her own friend.

... Or more?

All the things left undiscovered Leave me waiting and left to wonder I need you All the things left undiscovered Leave me empty and left to wonder I need you I need you

"Abby... until death to us part... I would never leave you. It's just that... something missing inside of you could be undiscovered. Something that has been inside of you, but you didn't even know it yet. But I just want you to know... I would never want to leave you. If I did, I'd quit the Kids Next Door... just for you." Nigel said.

Abby was amazed. He would do that... for her? She felt him hug her tighter. He was serious.

Cause I can't fake And I can't hate But it's my heart that's about to break You're all I need I'm on my knees Watch me bleed Would you listen please

"... I think I know what might be something that I've discovered, but what you haven't discovered." Abby said as she broke free.

"What? What is it?" Nigel asked.

"... My love for you."

I give in I breathe out I want you There's no doubt

He couldn't believe it. She loved him, and he never knew. So that's what was bothering her. She was afraid that he didn't love her back. But she was wrong. He did love her. And he always had.

"Abby... there's so many times of how I wanted you to say that... Because I love you, too."

I freak out I'm left out Without you I'm without

Moments later, Abby had large tears in her eyes. This was the greatest experience of her life. The person she's always loved loves her back. She thought this was a dream. But inside, it was real. Real and true. She wanted to shake her head and wake up, but something told her this was no dream. It was the real thing. Nigel's heart was beating really fast. And so was Abby's. In a few seconds, they both leaned towards each other, preparing for the moment to come...

I'm crossed out I'm kicked out I cry out I reach out

... Then they kissed. The happiest moment of both their lives finally came to be. With total silence in the air, Abby broke the kiss which seemed like an eternity. Her best friend, Nigel Uno, has loved her for who she was... and it felt good. Again, for breaking the kiss, she returned the favor of hugging him, making sure that she will never let go. After that long moment of truth...

Nigel had won Abby's heart.

Don't walk away Don't walk away Don't walk away Don't walk away
