Dances with Dogs
Alfa and I went to our first dancing workshop in December 08. The combination of working with your dog, creating and performing a routine together is amazingly rewarding. The possibilities are endless and I can see this discipline entertaining us for many years to come.
We entered our first Dances with Dogs competition in September 09 and had some good fortune, gaining a qualifying 2nd Place in the morning and a qualifying 1st place in the afternoon. Only 2 passes are required for this first "Starters" level and so we also titled in 'Freestyle' on our first day!
From time to time, we are part of the Dances with Dogs Demonstration team. Alfa has performed at the Sydney Royal Easter Show in 2009 & 2010. In June 2011, we attended the Dogs NSW "Dogs on Show" at Erskine Park where Alfa did a fabulous performance (probably our best!) of her Singin' in the Rain routine. More recently in October 2011, at the Purina Warringah Mall event, Alfa showcased her heelwork routine Snappy Snaps and Fire got to demonstrate some of our training including her 'feet' trick which is a real winner! It was great to have her out performing at just 5 months old!
