The Meaning of Words Beyond its Ordinary Meaning

HeadLines

13rd May, 2007- Figuratively Speaking, or in other less complicated terms, figure of speech, was created on a Thursday night, in the month of May out of pure boredom and a spark of inspiration. With the collaboration of these two very different aspects, Figuratively Speaking was born. This site was created as a channel for the author to release their thoughts and to announce to the world about her creations, among a few other unmentionable reasons.

And though the author is, (according to a few reliable sources) far too ambitious, she solely promises to try her best. With the help of her dry humored, sarcastic subconscious, she works at writing quality work with as original (as original can be) plots and well-rounded characters. Trying out different genres and styles, this girl struggles to get her story across to her readers.

Our author, who goes by the pen-name of Nickellye Skipper, aka Nickel, owes many thanks to all those who have been in her life as she takes inspiration from real living breathing human beings. What’s more, she is terribly grateful to them for answering her unending questions and never really shooing her away when she intended to dig into their minds as she is prone to being a pest.

Liking phsycology fairly much, Skipper was once, a school councellor, but due to the fact that she changed schools, she had to resign her post as a Junior Councellor after two years and three months of being part of it. Still, she continues her study on the human mind by asking absurd questions to observe the many reactions people make and spends much of her time analyzing those around her, even random strangers.

Being one of the weirdest perfectionist the world has yet to encouter, the state of this girl's room is worse than a dump site, claims her siblings Perimon & Nichothodes (also known as Maxym Regon), and yet when it comes to her writings and drawings, the word perfectionist fails to discribe her. Taking pride that she has no sense of style and that many of her clothes (branded they maybe) are handy-downs, Nickel admits that she does not wear make up and throws on whatsoever she finds in her messy cupboard.

Nickel, has an addiction however. She is more addicted to books (more so Fantasy, rewritten Fairy Tales & Regency Romance) than a junkie is to drugs, says the girl of fifteen years in but a month. She has infact read almost all 500 of Hans Christian Anderson's stories and owns an uncountable amount of retold Fairy Tales books. Stranger still, though she did enjoy reading Harry Potter as did many other teens her age, she did not, does not, think they are THE best books in the world, merely that the world is caught up in this alternate universe of magic schools. And thus being said, she is actually hoping The-Boy-Who-Lived would die as it, in her opinion, would be the best ending for the long running series.

On a side note, this newsletter article, Figuratively Speaking’s motto is in fact its definition: The Meaning of Words Beyond its Ordinary Meaning, which was chosen by the author to state that she intends for the reader to discover the meaning behind the heavily layered plots and conversations and instead find her true theme. It is also because she likes going on long train rides with her friends, Detail and Imagination. -N.S
