Knowledge, Nature, Truth...

Three Candles that Illuminate the Darkness

Druids are Followers of Nature, Protectors of Life; they are friends to all Nature, be it beast, man, or plant-life. A Druid neither falls under the category of good, nor evil, preferring instead to remain neutral.

Druids however, are not inclined to lie. They are knowledgeable, and speak only truth when their knowledge is required. A Druid's connection to Nature is the source of all his or her powers; both in society and in magic.

By understanding that connection, a Druid's being is joined with Nature, and so becomes aware of all that is known to Nature, which are all things. Go into the woods and listen. The voices of the Gods are never silent. Their language is the blowing wind, and the waves of the great, pouring sea. A Druid must understand the language that Nature uses to speak its Wisdom...

Walk into the woods and experience Nature. This spiritual side will awaken with time. The more time you put into your treks into the wild the more lessons you will come away with. Walk through the woods... but do not simply walk through the woods. Feel the breeze greet your face, the smells of the wood enthrall your sense of smell, behold the majesty of Nature in all of her phases...

The ebbing and flowing of the pulse of the Mother in her full rapture of beauty and danger. Embrace this... feel the heartbeat of the Mother beneath your feet, touch an old Oak and feel the life force within. Witness a storm, observe the tornado, the hurricane, the earthquake, and the floods; watch the destruction and cleansing and witness the rebirth of the new. See a forest fire destroy a woods; witness the spawn of new growth that comes alive from the fruits of destruction. With death comes life. The eternal triplicity of life, death, and rebirth.

The Druids are essential for our survival, without them, we would be helpless against all the things we cannot see. One of the principal obligations of the druids is to keep Man and Earth and Otherworld in harmony. The three are inextricably interwoven and must be in a state of balance or catastrophe will follow. As the repositories of a thousand years of tribal wisdom, the druids know how to maintain that balance. Beyond the forts and farms lurks the darkness of the unknown. Druid wisdom holds that darkness at bay.

Knowledge, Nature, Truth...Find within yourself the Druid you seek to become...Wisdom, Loyalty, Creativity, Strength... These are the Druids...

  Moral Code

Honor, Nature, Loyalty, Hospitality, Honesty, Courage and Knowledge are traits you will find in a Druid. To be considered a part of the Druids as well, you must not only have these traits, but apply them to your life, and follow them on a daily basis. Druids are each individual, but as a path, they are a family, and all must be willing to adhere to the basic moral code.

-The virtue of Honor requires one to adhere to their oaths and do the right thing, even if it will ultimately hurt others or oneself in the process. A Druid will protect Nature, and their path and family, in doing so, may sometimes retaliate when attacked or stand and fight in war, should they deem it a worthy cause.

-Nature is upheld in any way possible for a Druid, from the effort spent in the study of Nature and her mysteries, to the strong vow to protect her, and maintain balance. Druids realize the importance of life and death, power and weakness, within Nature, and well seek to maintain the natural course taken by her.

-A Druid is obligated to remain true to path first, and anyone they deem to be friends, family and respected leaders, thus exhibiting the virtue of Loyalty. A Druid who pledges loyalty will hold to that for a lifetime, unless betrayed.

-Hospitality demands that a Druid be a good host when guests are under one's roof. This extends to the people visiting their Grove as well.

-Honesty insists that one tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth to yourself, your gods, your goddesses and your people. Druids will not lie for any reason, there is never a good enough one to force an untruth.

-Justice desires the Druid understands without doubt that everyone has an inherent worth and that an assault to that worth demands recompense in one form or another. Druids are not weak, and will seek to maintain balance, even if that means stepping in to a situation to counter-balance a negative outcome when something is being handled unfairly. Druids do not believe any person is better than another, strength, power, money do not mean anything. The simple value of life makes all people equal.

-Courage for the Druid does not always wear a public face; it is standing-strong-in-the-face-of-adversity, alone or with companions. Sometimes Courage is getting up and going about a daily routine when pain has worn one down without complaint or demur. Standing strong without accepting defeat.

-A Druid will seek to learn at every stage of life. Learning never ceases. A druid understands the value of knowledge for Nature, self, and for others. Druids know that learning knows no boundaries, and will not limit themselves by ignorance.
