SPECIAL MEETING OF THE NEWLARKS
RESIDENTS’ ASSOCIATION
Wednesday, 26th July
Venue – Vinnicombe Court Communal
Lounge, Cambridge Drive
Time: 7.15pm
After many years of legal battles and other set-backs, your Residents Association is now ready to start work on clearing the Play Area site adjacent to Vinnicombe Court. As well as levelling the ground, the preparation work also requires the removal of a tree and the erection of a wire fence between St Catherines Court and Vinnicombe Court. This work will be fully discussed at the meeting on the 26th July and all are invited to attend. The meeting will start at 7.15pm in the lounge of Vinnicombe Court – adjacent to the bus-stop in Cambridge Drive. Please come along especially if you have children to see the plans. We are also interested to hear about any objections to this work to create this ball-game area.
Phase 2 of the project will be to supply a separate area with play equipment for the younger children. We have already contacted approved play equipment manufacturers who have submitted detailed plans for the area. These will be available on the 26th. We already have fund-raised over £8,000 and intend to apply for local grants to cover the rest of the cost estimated to be £18.229 in total. But before we can apply for grants we need to ask for your help. To satisfy the conditions on the application form we need to show the involvement of the community, so we need to set up a Play Area sub-committee or action group of around 4 or 5 parents. By becoming involved you will certainly not be committing yourself to anything more than meeting up on one or two occasions to approve the purchase of play area equipment, etc. Please give this some thought as without your help we cannot progress any further.
When complete, we are hoping to landscape the area by planting flowers and shrubs. Hopefully this is an activity which our children would like to get involved in – after all they are going to play there.
Also on the 26th we will need to hold a 5 minute EGM to adopt a new Residents Association constitution. Although it sounds a bit heavy it will be simply to adopt a new ‘standard model’ constitution that Orwell Housing has drafted which satisfies the terms and conditions when applying for grants. It will only take 5 minutes and all we need from you is your ‘show of hands’ to adopt.
So
please make every effort to attend on the 26th.
Important notices on
