Welcome to the Homepage of King Jeremy II's government. New Brittania is a micronational dedicated to the preservation of the society of Imperial Britain, and as such has colonial possessions on both the Geographical Standards Organisation and the Micronational Cartography Society. In addition to this New Brittania also claims a large piece of territory in real life following a declaration of independence on August 9th 2005.
The Government in brief
The current government of New Brittania is led by King Jeremy II, the third King of New Brittania, with the assistance of his Primeminister David Mallins and the national parliment consisting of a House of Lord and a House of Commons. In addition to this a number of ministers have been appointed to deal with certain areas, however generally ultimate authority is held by the King who must agree to any changes made. The Commons are elected during a public vote which takes place every four months, Meanwhile the Lords consists of the appointed Dukes who rule the nations Duchys, each Duchy is broken down into a counties each of which is rules locally by a Royally appointed Count.
General when a citizen wants to change something in the nation they make the suggestion to their Memeber of Parliment who will then propose it in the Commons where it will be discussed and voted on, if the vote indicated a majority in favour of the idea it moved up to the Lords where the process is repeated. If the Lords vote in favour of the bill then it becomes law, providing they recieve the King's approval. Should a bill recieve a majority against it in the Lords then it can be sent back down to the Commons to be reconsidered.
The people
New Brittania's population changes frequently if a new person joins or an old one leaves, however generally there are enough citizens to make up the government at any particular moment in time. The ideals held by all New Brittanians are that of freedom, politeness and decency and these are used frequently during the every day running of the nation which take place on the forum although occaisional slip ups in the latter two may occur from time to time. However the simulated citizens of New Brittania normally live very peaceful, rural lives in the number of islands which make up the nation, this existance is best described in the short story: A Day in the life of a New Brittanian.
