The WBC is hinting at Samuel Peter to step aside if Vitali Klitschko is serious with his comeback. To me this is a joke. Vitali hasn't fought in two years and Peter earned his mandatory title shot.
WBA
Speaking of manditories. Nicolay Valuev has been champion for over a year and hasn't had to face a mandatory contender yet. The WBA has rules about this but you know what they say about rules. Valuev also has not defended his title against a top ten contender yet.

Well the proposed Jermaine Taylor/Joe Calzaghe bout is off for now. Taylor made the announcement that he plans to stay at 160 lbs.
Jermaine Taylor defeats Kassim Ouma. No suprises here. Perhaps it was a rougher fight than expected. Taylor had success with the right hand(as expected with southpaws). In the corner between rounds Emanuel Steward was telling him to through more uppercuts. This resulted in Taylor throwing uppercuts from the outside. I think if he tried that against Hopkins, Hopkins would have made him pay. Steward might want to be more specific in the future.Especially if Taylor fights Calzaghe as expected.
Moorer defeats Cliff Couser by ko in one. Is Moorer serious his comeback this time? Time will tell, just keep him away from Teddy Atlas. Atlas if you remember talked Moorer into retiring during a espn2 interview. He's unretired. | |
