Review – The Nemesis Cell

Brian L. Porter’s true talent is taking a genre and reinventing it. He shows this yet again in The Nemesis Cell.  You can expect the unexpected and still be surprised.  Leave it to Mr. Porter’s highly sensitive understanding of human nature to know where to go to scare us most … our children. ~ Kristina Dalton, author of Vampire’s Lover, The King’s Right, The Ring, Taken, Unleashed, Untold and, coming soon, Destined.

The Author

Author Biography – Brian L Porter

Porter digs deep into the minds and psyche of human nature, when creating his fictional characters, even the heroes are flawed and fallible, nocardboard cut-outs” here. Rain Publishing Inc.

A member of The American Authors Association, The Military Writers Society of America, The Canadian Authors Network, and The Whitechapel Society 1888, Brian L Porter is the author of the recently released ‘A Study in Red – The Secret Journal of Jack the Ripper, (Double Dragon Publishing), which has been the subject of numerous tremendous reviews, both from professionals and readers alike. ‘A Study in Red’ continues to sell well in both paperback and e-book. This book was made a ‘recommended read’ by the reviewer at CK2S Kwips & Kritiques for February 2008.

His previous novel, ‘The Nemesis Cell’ was released in e-book format by Stonehedge Publishing in May 2007, and achieved a Top Ten Finalist Award in the recent Preditors & Editors Readers Award Poll, finishing 6th in the Mystery Novel Category. Released at the same time in e-book format by Stonehedge was ‘Avenue of the Dead’ which, with ‘The Nemesis Cell’ is soon to be released in paperback by Still Waves Publishing.  In the same P & E poll, his short story trilogy ‘Murder, Mayhem and Mexico’, published by Eternal Press,  also finished in the Top Ten, this time finishing 9th in the Anthologies category.

His novelette, ‘Dracula Doesn’t Live Here Anymore’ was recently released by Eternal Press, as was a short story e-book collection ‘The Voice of Anton Bouchard,’ from Stonehedge Publishing. Brian also co-wrote a science fiction short story collection with Graeme S Houston, ‘A Binary Convergence’ which was published by Stonehedge Publishing in 2007.

His short stories have been published in various online and print journals over the last two years, with three of his shorts being included in the Eternal Press anthology ‘Twist of Fate’ released in 2007.

Brian L Porter extensively researches details, using knowledge from police forces, and in particular the Scottish forces-he is surrounded with books on forensics, true crime, and history matters and injects these facts into his muse combining effortlessly true facts with fictional entertainment.

His writing style, described as bordering on the edge of the mind, and digging deep into the minds and psyches of the characters he creates will be a pure delight for fans of mystery thrillers.” I love exploring the ‘dark side’ of human nature, and in so doing I try to make my characters, even the heroes, flawed and as fallible as the next person. I try to avoid ‘cardboard cut-out’ or stereotyped heroes and villains.”

Brian currently lives in the UK with his wife, two step-daughters and four previously abused rescued dogs.
