Neko's Den

   I met her when I was in Grade 1. We've been bestfriends ever since. As I grew more mature, and she grew more beautiful, I can't help but fall in love with her. But I never had the chance to tell her because before I did she told me that she already have a boyfriend. My heart crushed as she introduced him to me. I thought, maybe it's better this way. She seems happy; if she's happy, I'm happy.

   But one day I saw her at the rooftop of her house(she lives in a 20-floor apartment building) about to jump. I tried to stop her. But I failed. She jumped. If only I told her I love her, everything would've turned out so differently.

   An ambulance took her and I also went inside. As she fought for her life, I heard her say the words I've been dreaming of telling her all this time...

After some time, I said yes. Then I introduced my now-boyfriend to him. He seems happy for me. My heart crushed as I saw him shake hands with my boyfriend, without a trace of jealousy on his face. Maybe...maybe it's better this way... I mean, he doesn't seem to love me anyway.

   One day my boyfriend called me up to say that we're over. The truth was that he and his friends made a deal about me. I am so heartbroken. I love my boyfriend too, you know. I went to our rooftop and without really thinking I tried to jump. When I was about to jump, he appeared. He tried to stop me, but I had one wrong step and I fell.

   I can barely hear the siren of the ambulance. They took me inside the ambulance and he came in too. Struggling to breathe, I tried to tell him what I really feel...

"I love you"

   I couldn't believe what I just heard. I tried to say something, but no words came out. I finally managedto whisper...

"I love you too"

   Those were the last words I heard. And then... Nothingness...

   No. It can't be. SHE CANT DIE!!!
   
   But she did. It was dead upon arrival at the hospital. If only I told her earlier...everything would've been so different.

sometimes a little decision of not telling someone you love him/her can change your lives.....

   Why would she do this to herself? I thought as I looked at her face, which was etched with loneliness, desperation, and......pain....

   I looked at her pocket and saw her cellphone. I took it and was surprised it wasn't damaged after the fall. I looked at the last people who called her. The last one to call was her boyfriend, and the call was just made this morning. I wonder if...

   I saw him at the park with his friends. I approached them.

"Hey..."

"Hey"

"What did you do to Rena?"

"Nothing dude we're over"

"Oh? How come?"

"I won the deal"

"What deal?" I said as I frowned.

"When she falls for me they give me a hundred bucks each" he said pointing at his friends.

"So you used her for a deal? Do you know where she is now?"

"umm....at home crying?" he said while grinning.

"Her body's in the morgue and her soul is in heaven. Happy?"

His grin faded. "What do you mean, she died?"

"Yes. She jumped off their building.....because of you..." My voice was shaking as I tried to control my temper.

"No way...."

"Yes....and it's all because of YOU!!!!!!!!" I ran to him and punched him. He took it straight in the face. I aimed for another punch but a voice at the back of my mind (I think it's my consience) said No, Anthony, Rena wouldn't want you to beat him to death would you? She loves him...

I stopped. I turned my back and said

"The funeral is next Tuesday. Don't bother to come. I think you didn't love her anyway..." I could just imagine his dumbfounded face as I walked away from them...

Tuesday.

Rena's funeral.

I just sat there. Crying. I don't want to go any closer to her coffin for it may make me cry more. But I want to look at her one last time, so I still went and took a one last look at her face.

"I'm sorry..."

I turned around. So the idiot came after all.

"You came." He just nodded without saying a word.

We just stood there, looking at Rena's beautiful face. After a few moments he sobbed, and totally broke into tears.

"It's all my fault...all my fault...I didn't mean to...I didn't want this to happen..." He said between sobs. I said nothing, because it's really HIS fault Rena's there inside a coffin.

"I'm sorry, Rena...I'm sorry..." Sorry? SORRY? SORRY'S NOT ENOUGH! SORRY'S NOT ENOUGH TO BRING HER BACK!!!

We went back to our seats, immersed in our own thoughts.

"I was surprised you didn't totally beat me up or even killed me. I deserved it, you know."

"Rena doesn't want her love hurt or killed, would she?" I said with a faint smile. He didn't respond.

I can't take this anymore. I rose up and left.

I didn't go home. My parents were back at the funeral. I just went wherever my feet took me. Places that Rena and I went with. Memories...memories that give me hope but now pains me as I think of it. Rena...

BEEP BEEP!!!

CRASH!!!!

"Anthony WATCH OUT!!!!"

I was searching for him. Who knows he might kill himself too? He seems lonely enough to do it.

He didn't hear my warning. He was hit straight on by a speeding car. I rushed to him while dialing the hospital. I gave them the name of the street and the ambulance is on its way.

"Anthony..."

"Don't try to save me; it's useless"

"Don't say that. The ambulance is on its way and you're gonna be all right"

"Dan....Daniel....don't...save me...."

"Don't speak. It'll only tire you more."

"No...I...want us...to be....together...again..." I knew at once that he was talking about Rena

The ambulance arrived. It took Anthony away...
