The Master of Sand.... Gaara

|
|
|
|
As we all know the three members of Team Gaara are Gaara (obviously), Kankuro, and Temari.
Each with a different ability and age.

|
(Although younger than everyone) Gaara might perhaps be the most powerful of .......... everyone participating in the chuunin exams. He also has a demon living inside which might be the reason for all his hatred. Gaara is the son of the Fourth Kazekage and the younger brother of Temari and Kankuro. Because of Sunagakure's decreases in funds, Gaara's father ordered Chiyo to seal the One-Tailed Shukaku
within Gaara during his birth in the hopes that he would become the
ultimate weapon for the village. Because a sacrifice was needed,
Gaara's mother, Karura, was used. Before she died, Karura cursed Sunagakure, hoping Gaara would avenge her death.
Gaara was trained by his father, but raised mainly by his uncle, Yashamaru.
Because of the power of Shukaku, the villagers of Sunagakure hated and
feared Gaara, seeing him only for the monster sealed within him. For a
time, Yashamaru seemed to be the only person who cared about Gaara.
When Gaara would mistakenly harm others due to the subconscious
abilities granted to him by Shukaku, Yashamaru would be the only one
who understood that Gaara hadn't intended to harm anyone. Gaara's
father, however, did not see Gaara in the same light, and viewed
Gaara's frequent attacks upon villagers as a result of a failed
experiment that was a threat to the village.
Because of the danger Gaara imposed, his father began sending
assassins to kill him, though when all attempts met with failure, the
Kazekage asked Yashamaru to kill Gaara. As a result, Yashamaru tried to
assassinate Gaara, though Gaara's abilities defeated Yashamaru with
ease, saddening Gaara. Although Gaara tried to dismiss Yashamaru's
attack as an order of the Kazekage, Yashamaru corrected him by saying
that he had willingly accepted the mission. Having never truly loved
Gaara, Yashamaru hoped that killing Gaara would avenge the death of his
sister, who had named Gaara after the phrase "a self-loving carnage" (我を愛する修羅, Ware wo ai suru shura?),
a sign of her hate for Gaara. In a last ditch effort to kill Gaara,
Yashamaru detonated a number of explosive tags covering his body,
asking Gaara to, "Please die." Gaara survives the blast and loses the
only person he thought had cared for him.
While Gaara had initially tried to be friendly towards others
despite their fear of him, Yashamaru's actions and words changed Gaara.
Realizing that nobody loved him, Gaara used his sand to create the kanji
on his forehead (愛, "Love") as a symbol of a "demon loving only
himself". Gaara became emotionally withdrawn, all but silent, and
consumed with a bitter loathing for everyone but himself. He learned to
find pleasure and eventually a reason to live in annihilating the
numerous assassins sent to kill him – and by extension, anyone who
threatened his existence. Gaara's insomnia,
forced upon him by the fear that the demon inside him would eat away at
his personality if he were to fall asleep, only furthered his
instability and desire to kill. In time, Gaara's father would come to
appreciate Gaara and the uses he could serve, and canceled all
assassination orders in the hopes that Gaara would become an effective
tool.
Gaara's childhood was somewhat similar to Naruto Uzumaki's,
albeit more unfortunate due to his lack of anyone to call a friend.
Both were lonely and desired to be liked, loved, and acknowledged as an
individual, free of others' prejudices — they are themselves, not the
demons they were forced to "contain" — and both were driven into a
desperate state. While Naruto consequently developed the misconception
that pranks and mischief would bring him the attention he sought, Gaara
came to the conclusion that he could preserve and confirm his own
existence by killing any and all who challenged it, securing an extreme
form of existentialism
as his key personality trait. In the absence of others' acknowledgment,
he could compensate by valuing only himself to the exclusion of
everyone else. Furthermore, while Naruto eventually had Iruka Umino
and Team 7 to acknowledge him, Gaara never had anyone to bond with and
did not understand the concept of fighting for anything other than
himself until his confrontation with Naruto.

There is very little known about Temari but she is a powerful asset for team Gaara.
With her giant fan she can deflect incoming weapons. Thus she is perfect when
fighting someone like Tenten. Temari is the oldest child and only daughter of the Fourth Kazekage, as well as being teammate and older sister to Gaara and Kankuro. She carries a giant iron fan
on her back, which she uses as a powerful ninja tool. She specializes
in long-range combat, and has demonstrated herself to be fairly
intelligent and a keen analyst, although not of the same caliber as Shikamaru Nara.
Temari is generally caring, if crude, toward her siblings and
cohorts, but has a tendency to be quite cruel to her opponents in
battle. She is more demonstrative with her feelings than Kankuro when
dealing with Gaara, and is somewhat less afraid of him. Shikamaru,
after witnessing her fighting style secondhand, stated that she is more
terrifying than his own mother. Temari fights using her giant iron fan that appears to be based on Princess Iron Fan from Journey to the West.
Inscribed on the fan are three purple circles spaced equally across its
length, which she calls "stars" ("moons" in the English dub). As she
opens the fan to reveal each star in sequence, its power increases
greatly. She usually starts fighting with it closed, and then reveals
each moon one by one until the third is shown. Once this occurs, she
will finish her opponent using her main jutsu, Cutting Whirlwind Technique.
Temari mainly uses her fan to create a large wind gust to cut her
opponents apart or force them back. She can also create whirlwinds and
tornadoes. She also uses it as a powerful thrusting weapon or as a
makeshift club, and has knocked her opponents unconscious simply by
slamming the fan into their bodies, as she attempted to do in her fight
against Shikamaru Nara. She can also glide on the fan, though this is
only used to show off or intimidate her opponents, not as a practical
mode of transportation.
Temari's favorite foods are roasted chestnuts and vegetable soup;
her least favorite foods are squid and octopus. Botany is her hobby and
her favorite phrase is "Sharpen your kama at sunset." Her most desired opponent is Shikamaru Nara.

Kankuro is another person that very little is known about. He uses
his puppet, Crow, as his main weapon. He also attaks from far so
while his puppet is fighting he is safe. Kankuro is the second oldest child of the Fourth Kazekage and the brother of Gaara and Temari. Hailing from Sunagakure, Kankuro specializes in ninja puppetry. In his first appearance, he carries a large marionette wrapped in bandages on his back called Karasu (烏, "Crow"). In combat, Kankuro tends to use Karasu in combination with a technique similar to a Body Replacement Technique;
he first lures his opponents into getting close to Karasu (disguised as
himself), then unveils himself from the bandages to finish his opponent
off. His puppets are also equipped with various traps and numerous
concealed weapons, such as hidden poison-coated blades, poison gas, and
projectile launchers. In addition, the heads and limbs of his puppets
can be disengaged from their respective bodies and used as projectiles
themselves.
Kankuro appears to add new puppets
to his arsenal as the series progresses, reflecting an increase in his
skill level. He later uses Karasu in conjunction with a second puppet
called Kuroari
(黒蟻, "Black Ant"), a puppet designed to be a trapping unit that holds
opponents still for Karasu. Kankuro also seems to change his style of
face paint with every appearance he makes in the story.
Kankuro seems to have a reputation of being a bully, as can be seen
when he, Temari, and Gaara first arrive in Konoha and have a run in
with Konohamaru. He has also shown dislike to kids. This was explained
shortly after Gaara attempted a killing spree in the Forest of Death.
Kankuro's favorite food is hamburgers; his least favorite food is spinach. His hobby is installing mechanisms in his puppets.
