The NDT GURU

Born in 1948, at Bapatla, Andhra Pradesh, India, I graduated from Osmania University, Hyderabad, in 1966 with specialization in Physics. After a 1-year training in Nuclear and allied Physics, I joined Department of Atomic Energy, where I was involved in testing, inspection, Quality Control etc.. In 1972, I graduated as a metallurgical engineer by successfully passing the AMIE (India) examination. Till October 2004, I was the Group Leader of an effective group of Physicists, and Engineers working in the field of Materials Inspection, Materials Testing and shop floor QC in the production of Pressure Vessels, Critical tubes and pipes in zirconium alloys and stainless steel, employing a variety of Destructive and NDT Methods. I also held ASNT Level III Certification in the fields of UT and RT until December 2005. I am actively involved in the NDT Training and Certification Activities and am the Hony. Co-treasurer of the Indian Society for Non-Destructive Testing. I was the Vice-Chairman of Hyderabad Chapter of ISNT till last year. I was also a member of the Committee for NDT of Bureau of Indian Standards.
From October 2004 to June 2008 (when I retired from my full time job),  I was in charge of Human Resource Development, Corporate Communications and a good Technical Library in Nuclear Fuel Complex.
I am presently involved in teaching, training, building up a question bank of NDT questions, development of e-Learning tools etc., for bringing NDT in a more understandable form to more people.
