2nd Annual Marine Mud Challenge at Belmont Abbey College

Care to eat some dirt???

Uniformity

  • Just like the military, we expect all teams to be uniform in their appearance.  This means that each member in the team should wear the same color shirts, shorts, sweat pants, etc. as decided by your team captain.
  • Teams with the most uniquely designed shirts will be recognized at the awards ceremony.

Clothing Considerations

Things to think about:

  • Temperatures in the Charlotte area in August routinely exceed 90F.
  • Average rainfall in the Charlotte area in August can be as much as seven inches for the month.  We will run this event rain or shine!
  • As long as we aren't in drought conditions, there will likely be a lot of dew on the off road grasses so you will likely get wet before the mud pit.
  • As this event will take place mostly off road, consider bug spray along with sun block.
  • At other mud run events across the country, some participants bring swim goggles for the mud run portion.  We will have water stations available upon your completion of the mud pit activities should you need to rinse your eyes, mouth or face.
  • We will do our best to have "clean" mud.  This means that we hope that all of our mud is primarily dirt, sand and clay.  Due to the area that the mud pit is located, there will also be some small gravel.  The pit run will have mud/water more than one foot deep.  The low crawl area will be more than six inches deep.
  • You and your team may consider wearing military camouflage pants, sweat pants, log sleeve shirts, etc.
  • Also, you are guarenteed to get dirty, consider bringing a change of clothes along with a trash bag for your muddy gear.
