Commonly asked Questions and their Answers:
Is this event open to the public?
Yes, about 85% of our runners are from the public sector.
Do we need to raise money for this fundraiser beyond the registration fee?
No but we surely would appreciate it. When you go to our donations and fundraiser website: http://www.active.com/donate/MUTC you can make a donation with a credit card, set up a fundraiser web page, etc. There are a number of teams collecting funds on their own. On the day of the race, please provide those donations collected to Aaron Harper.
How do I register for this event?
Please go to: http://marinemudrun.eventbrite.com, once there, you'll be able to select the number and type of tickets you want to purchase for the event. This will start your registration process for you.
Will this event really be that tough?
YES.
Come on, will this event really, really be that tough?
YES. If your team has to walk during portions of the event, that's fine - you will be made fun of until our throats are scratchy and sore. Okay, we won't make fun of you because plenty of teams had to walk it out last year.
Why do we have to do the duck walk?
Because enough competitors complained about it last year that we decided to added in two more duck walk areas. One, two, three, four, I love the Marine Corps!
Does anyone make money from this event?
Absolutely not. All of our staff, the Marine Council, volunteers are working at this event for free. Okay, maybe they get a donated bagel and some coffee but that's it. They are awesome people who are doing this because they are very patriotic and care a great deal about our Marines, Sailors, Soldiers and Airmen.
I don't have enough people to sign up a team, can you help find us some people?
Unfortunately, we can't do this. We highly recommend checking groups at meetup.com, local gyms, etc. to find running partners.
What if we don't have enough runners on the day of the race?
You will be required to snorkel in the mud pit to find specific water molecules until we say stop. Just kidding, you can still compete but imagine this - for every obstacle or challenge four people have to complete them. As an example, if you only have 3 people for the sand bag carry, one of your members must carry one extra sand bag for both carries. Chose your team members wisely.
My arm will be in a cast on the day of the event, can I still compete?
With your physician's approval and some common sense, you can still participate. For a number of the challenges, you will or should not complete them such as the wall climbs, etc. Your team will be flagged by the judges and they'll know not to expect the injured member not to participate and walk around the challenge. Your team will be running for fun not for awards though and we still want you to participate. Just don't get hurt or rather, don't get re-hurt.
