James Naismith created basketball in 1891. When

he created basketball he lived in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Since the winter was cold in Massachusetts Nasmith

wanted to create a sport that could be played indoors.

When he was creating basketball he first thought of

shooting a soccer ball into peach baskets. When he was

creating this sport, he wanted to make it so people didn't rely on strength but on skills.

He also made rules for the game. His rules were 13 Original Rules.
