Before we start – this is a fun tutorial so please do experiment with the settings!! We want to keep to a ‘Outer Space’ Feel!!

Ok – lets get started, and as always remember to save regularly.

Open a new image white background 600 x 600

By using the Dropper Tool Choose a BLACK or an appropriate dark colour from your tube. Click and set Background to this colour. Foreground NULL.

Draw a medium – large sized circle in the centre of your canvas using the Ellipse Tool, and make sure you have the Draw Circle selected in the mode toolbar.

Right Click your Vector Layer and covert to Raster Layer

Go to Layers – Load/Save Mask RCNMASK_13

Layers – Invert/Mask Adjustment if necessary.

Right Click on Group – Merge – Merge Group

Rename the Layer ‘BlackHole’.

Duplicate the ‘BlackHole’ Layer so that you have another copy (Right Click on ‘BlackHole’ Layer – Duplicate).

Rename the Layer (Right Click – Rename) ‘Starfield1’.

Resize ‘Starfield1’.  Image – Resize – 80 % (ensure the Resize all Layers is NOT checked)

Arrange the Layers so that the ‘BlackHole’ Layer is beneath ‘Starfield1’

Ensuring that Starfield1 is selected

Go to Effects – Plugins – Alien Skin Xenofex2 – Constellation with these settings:

Then go back to Effects – Plugins – Alien Skin Xenofex2 – Constellation with these settings:

Duplicate ‘Starfield1’ (Right Click on ‘Starfield1’ Layer – Duplicate) and rename it ‘Starfield2’

The reason we are doing this is because 2 exact copies of the same layer make it standout more.

Select your ‘BlackHole’ Layer

Go to Effects – Plugins – Alien Skin Xenofex2 – Electrify with settings:

Choose a nice glow colour when in Electrify so that it stands out. I choose an orange that was in my tube.

Duplicate it once, rename it as ‘1’ (Right Click – Rename)

Resize, Image – Resize – 105 %

Duplicate Layer ‘1’ twice and rename the 2 Layers ‘2’ and 3’

Hide Layers ‘2’ and ‘3’ by Left Clicking on the Eye Icon to the right of the Layer name.

At the moment Layers ‘1’, ‘2’ & ‘3’ should be behind the ‘BlackHole’ Layer.

Ensuring Layer ‘1’ is selected go to Go to Effects – Plugins – Alien Skin Xenofex2 – Constellation with these settings, or play with your own settings:

Basically we want glittery stars to sit behind our ‘BlackHole’ Layer.

Once you have decided on your desired effect

Hide Layer ‘1’ – Unhide Layer ‘2’

Effects – Plugins – Alien Skin Xenofex2 – Constellation – Random Speed – OK

Hide Layer ‘2’ – Unhide Layer ‘3’

Effects – Plugins – Alien Skin Xenofex2 – Constellation – Random Speed – OK

We will animate these 3 layers later!

Open the tube of your choice

Edit – Copy – Edit – Paste as new Layer onto your Canvas, Rename the Layer MTL (i.e. Main Tube Layer).

Resize your main tube as appropriate (Select MTL Layer and Image – Resize).

Arrange so that your MTL sits on top of all other layers in a position that complements the tag so far. Again refer to the main tag if that helps!

Now we want to really make an impact with our words, “Going Supernova”

Choose a fabulous font, and colouring, for the word Supernova

I am using SYDNIE with Black Background and Orange Foreground

Arrange words appropriately. On my Canvas it works best at the bottom

Choose a complementary font and colour for “Going”

I am using BNEXPOO with Black Background, Foreground NULL

[Optional] I also added a glow around the word “Going” by using the Plugin Alien Skin EyeCandy 4000

Arrange “Going” just above the “Supernova”

Now adorn the tag with yours, or someone else’s name.  I used the font DEARJO. With Orange Background and Black Foreground.

Arrange the name on the Canvas.

Go through all the layers and add subtle shadows as appropriate!! (Effects – 3D Effects – Drop Shadow)

Remember to add all appropriate copyright according to the artists TOU and crop your final tag as appropriate.

Now Animate in Animation Shop as per the Animation Tutorial, using Display Properties = 30!!

I hope you enjoyed this! Must admit this tag is a personal favourite!

I have included below another version of the tutorial. I used a fabulous planet/moon accessory from one of Scrappy Fees totally cool scrapkits “Night Time” Available HERE, colourised and played a bit with it!
