Old Risu's Toe Nails
326 - 350

326. A crescent moon
Mirrors my mood tonight.
Let tea decide.

327. Another moon
Shows me orange snow.
Pickled senses.

328. In the evening
A cat meows nearby
"Take me home!"

329. Midnight snowstorm
Novices and priests
Snowball fighting.

331. Snow on the willow
Shaken by many birds
Falls loudly, eh?

332. On the white snow
Black goose droppings.
All in a moment!

333. Leave me to die
Smiling at sunsets.
Brush is discarded.

334. This old squirrel
No longer climbs trees.
Autumn handicap.

335. Orange blossoms
In my mind's eye calling.
Mountain skylarks.

336. So many miles
A teardrop spans.
Good tidings.(for Hokawa)

337. Ribbon of shoreline
Crooked as sensei's mind.
Plover's laughter.

338. Butsudan quiet.
Priest sitting exposed.
A cat cries.

339. I middle aged
Return to my home town.
Expecting nothing.

340. Smoke dissipates,
Like my mind, floating -
Lotus sailing.

341. A waxing moon
Risen this evening.
Bright waterfall.

342. Under one roof
Meow, meow, up chase.
Temple bell ringing.

343. A hard rain
Laughing at our garden.
No more tears.

344. Windy traveling.
Sodden robes hanging on.
Thunderclaps.

345. Prayers cast
Into the Winter wind.
So much hot air.

346. Withered apples
On the altar perched.
Isn't it rich?

347. Priest in the snow.
No missing him plodding
Past the gate.

348. Love does not age.
Only the lovers fall
So long gone.

349. Thousand white moths
Like snowflakes dance
Before the fire.

350. Such energy,
Lost in my passing
To middle age without notice,
But my mind.....

Enjoy and be well this evening;
T.S.
