- Why is
it that deviantart (DA) users must make a new account if they want to
change their names? That isn't fair. Users lose their page view count, all
their favorites, and every comment if they move. Plus, not all users read
the journals of the people they watch, meaning they also lose watchers. It
takes people a long time (years for some) to reach the "fame" they've
achieved and would hate it if they had to start over again. Most people
are afraid to make a new account because they'll lose everything they've
worked so hard for.
- Also,
don't you think it would be a strain on the artist to have to re-upload
all their work - provided they want any of it on their new account, but
for the sake of the petition, let's say the artist does. They would have
to go through and either copy and paste (C&P) all their comments, or else
write new, more updated ones. That sure is a lot of trouble for just
wanting to change your username. Don'tcha think?
- Besides
if DA would just let us change our names, they wouldn't have to use up
space in their data-banks having dead accounts. It would save space they
could use for other, more important things. Like adds to give the website
money. Not that users like them, but I'm sure the owners do.
- Now, I
don't think it's a good idea to allow the artists to change their
usernames all the time, like MySpace and Fanfiction.net do. But I think
their should be a limit. Not an incredible small limit like Gaia has (only
3 name changes in your entire time on Gaia), but something easy, like once
a month. Sure this too would take up space in the computers, but it would
be much, much easier. On everyone.
So please sign if you think deviant artists should be
allowed the privilege that other website give!

Make sure it includes your deviantart username as well as your real
first name. Also, if you can, I would like an icon (no bigger than 100x100)
made specifically for this petition to prove that you really and truly
signed it. Make sure you post it on your DA too! |
