These standalone programs have been written to test the features and
concepts of the flagship applications. They are fully functional, but
provide only one function. These applications can be used
in combination or independent from each other. The concept applications
are appropriate for people, who need to control only
certain functions of their Treo 600. They are perfect if you
need very small, well tested programs. For more information about them
see the rest of this page or download the documentation from the Downloads section of this web site.
The currently available concept applications are Profeo MinuteMinder, Profeo LightControl, Profeo RadioControl, and Profeo LineSwitch (coming soon). Common for all of them is that
they have been designed as "set-and-forget" utilities - once you
set them up, you will rarely need to start them again - they will work
in the background and you will only notice the benefits, for example
you will enjoy longer battery life or automatic adjustment of the
screen/keyboard visibility according to the time of the day.

Profeo LC
v0.9.6 is perhaps the most advanced standalone backlight control application for
Treo 600. It allows you to switch the keyboard and screen backlight,
adjust the screen contrast and brightness, and to automatically change
Treo's light mode for day/night mode at
specified times. It optionally replaces the standard Treo "opt+p" with a
"smart" override mode and has "Stay On When Charging" functionality. Profeo LC is the only application which enables
you to have permanent keyboard backlight and adjust the screen
brightness at the same time. The main
benefits of Profeo LC are the extended battery life and the increased
comfort of automatic adjustment of the light according to the time of

There are no known problems with Profeo LC.

Profeo MM is the first Treo 600 application, which I started writing and it was never
finished. Until now. :-)
The current official version is 0.4.2.
The program is quite simple - it beeps periodically during phone
calls to remind you about the elapsed time. The beeps could be every
minute, on 50th second of every minute, every 10 minutes and on 9th
second of every 10 minutes. If both the minute and 10 minute beeps are
enabled, then every 10 minutes the program will beep twice. The 50
second and 9 minute beeps are designed to allow you to say bye and
hang-up fast. :-)
There are
options to play a sound when Treo starts dialing and to play a sound when
a phone call ends. New in version 0.4 are the options to disable the beeps if you have unlimited night or weekend calls.
To download it, please go to the Downloads
section of the web site. Please note that this is a beta version
and even though it works on my Treo, it may not work well for you. Please report any problems
or suggestions on the support forum at mytreo.net.
Version history:

If you are running a previous version of any of these utilities,
please disable it and delete it from your handheld before installing the
new version, because the preferences data is probably incompatible or they may interfere with each other. Also,
please disable or delete any third-party applications, that may have the same
functions as the concept application you are installing. Such could be RadioControl, mLights, AutoDim, etc.
To install the selected application, just download it and then hotsync it to your
handheld with your favorite PalmOS installer. After instalation, your
handheld will request a system reset. By default, all Profeo applications are placed in the Utilities folder in the PalmOS's
Application Launcher. Start the program you just installed in order to
set its options. Note that some of the application functions may not be
visible, until you select the proper checkbox, so feel free to
experiment with the settings. If you DON'T LIKE that they are hidden,
please send me an e-mail, because I am still looking for the most
friendly user interface. |

Profeo LineSwitch v0.2 - a new concept application, which
allows you to switch between two alternative lines of service at
specified times. It works only on GSM Treo 600s that have the option
available on their SIM card. The application will be available for
download soon.

Profeo RadioControl
v0.7.7 is application, which allows you to automatically turn
on/off the Treo 600's radio (wireless mode) at specified times every
day. There are several benefits of this functionality - extended
battery life, lower radiomagnetic radiation levels when the radio is
off, and the benefit of not being disturbed by phone calls/SMS messages
during the night.
