We are actually able to approach helping the artists in several ways when choosing to approach the sequential pages for submission. You actually have a lot to of leeway when it comes to do your pages. As writers of the story, we can:
A) Let you interpret the page into your own thumbnails for dramatic exploration. You have the creative control to lay out the panels based on the line description of what needs to be shown on the page...or...
B) We can provide you with the basic recommendation of the page layout by the writer for how it might be drawn for the comic, thumbnails, panels, directional arrows for camera angles, SFX, etc to inspire you as you create...or
C) We can also provide the guest artist with an exact Page Layout of how we want the page to be drawn, including script of the four pages showing sirection, camera angle, SFX, dialogue, and tone of each page to submit.
All these ways are excellent skills-building ways to approach the comic industry. As you are not limited to genre style when approaching these four page increments, the possibilities are endless. We no doubt will have american style entries as well as Manga. I am hoping that some artists will be dynamic enough to complete the submission in their own technique as style too. Its gonna be a blast!
